Well, that's the first nice thing any Trumpist has ever said to us...:)

I appreciate you mentioning two of the states with wild fires. Colorado and Michigan have some too. There are some fairly funny videos of people asking, “Why doesn’t Canada put the fires out?”

Um, because they’re out of control.

Carry on.

If Trump would have just told them like the told California to clean and rake their forest they wouldn't have this problem.

Have you any idea how bad Coca-Cola is for you?

https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/297600
Drinking Coca-Cola regularly is bad for your health. A single 330ml can contains about 35g of sugar (about 9 teaspoons). This high sugar and acid content is directly linked to an increased risk of weight gain, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and severe tooth enamel erosion.

Duh, that's why theres diet coke which is healthy and causes no issues of any type (unless you are a rat, then you get cancer)

As a Chemist and as a teacher of Chemistry, I have researched (by reading about) the matter of artificial sweeteners. I also am interested on the subject as one who consumes some artificial sweeteners. The OSU (first) article above cited and linked by Apatheist seems to be a good article and provides a rather balanced review of key facts and recent scientific studies and findings.

There is a growing body of evidence that points to the health risks of artificial sweeteners.

However, I still think sugar is far worse.

You can skip coke without adopting diet coke as a replacement.

water works… beer or wine on occasion… tea and coffee… no need for either super sugar or fake sugar.

Pro Tip:

You can drink your own lightly filtered pee and save the $3 you spend on fiji water.

100% sugar free, no added chemicals or preservatives, cheaper than exercise!!!

The Cheapest Method: Build a Solar Still:

solar still costs pennies to make and utilizes heat from the sun to evaporate pure water vapor out of the urine, leaving the toxins behind.

Dig a hole: Find a sunny spot and dig a pit about 2 feet wide and 1 foot deep.
Place a collector: Put a clean cup or container exactly in the center of the pit.
Add the urine: Pour the urine into the bottom of the hole around the outside of the cup. Do not get any inside the cup.Seal the pit: Cover the entire hole with a sheet of clear plastic wrap or a plastic trash bag. Secure the edges with dirt or heavy rocks so no air escapes.
Weighted center: Place a small pebble right in the center of the plastic sheet, directly above your cup. This creates an inverted cone shape.
Let it condense: The sun will heat the urine, causing pure water to evaporate and rise. It will condense on the underside of the plastic, run down to the lowest point created by the pebble, and drip straight into your cup.

I mostly drink Tap water…in Massachusetts it’s generally decent.
Our water is tested and we have additional filtration in our home.

Not generally buying water. I have and do… but water from plastic bottle may be filling you with micro-plastics.

I fill a 32 ounce mug to the rim with ice. Then add water.

I have been drinking Coke for many, many, many, many (not enough manys in my keyboard) years. I credit my longevity to all the preservatives I have consumed.

I do the same, actually.

Still, water all day gets boring. Have to have a few coffees or teas or cokes along the way. Usually 2 coffees and 1 Coke Zero in a day, but also other combinations.

Yes, I have read some of that body of evidence on the the POTENTIAL harms health risks of artificial sweeteners. I think the Greeks had a great bit of advice, in three simple words: NOTHING in EXCESS. I use a bit of real sugar, a bit of 3 different artificial sweeteners (not saccharin). I was using some stevia, but often that is combined with erythritol (sugar alcohol). I have read health concerns about erythritol.
Risks of sugar alcohols
Sugar alcohols have long been considered a safe addition to your diet — in moderation. Studies have shown 10 to 15 grams a day of sugar alcohols are safe. But many processed foods containing sugar alcohols have levels far greater than that threshold. And new research is showing that elevated levels of sugar alcohols can be dangerous to your health.
https://health.clevelandclinic.org/what ... r-alcohols

If one reads the ingredients in processed foods, many contain sugar, which presents some health risks, especially in large quantities. Many "sugar free" or "diet" products contain one of several artificial sweeteners, and the amount present is often not quantized on the label of the product.

So, nothing in excess may be the best advice here.

Yeah, I don't disagree. All things in moderation.

I generally avoid sugar, but I won't turn down a slice of Black Forest cake at a dinner party.

Most cakes are way to overpowering. Go minimal. Taste a cake made with fresh squeezed oranges.

Also, forget tomato paste pizzas. Use fresh crushed tomatoes. Love it.
