Did CC's Update Do More Harm Than Good?

Post by DirtyDishSoap »

I think after this has been around for a solid minute, and to try not to sound biased in this, but just a general question, what do other's think?

The hackers have not been able to shut us down completely since the update.. still a work in progress
Mod tools have made it a bit more difficult for us to be as effective, but the admin tools are better for the red guys.
Unfortunately it meant the end of the antispambot mod, so forum spam has increased. I am working as hard as I can to not keep it up for too long, but i don't want to live online.

In general, the new forums are a pain and harder to navigate, but site security is much improved.

Thanks for ALL you do, TeeGee. The same for the many volunteers who make this site a great and FUN place to play a game we enjoy.

Security online is always a concern and adding security means inconveniences for us regular users. And fixes are rarely "perfect" and sometimes not even CLOSE. And YES, NOT getting hacked and SHUT DOWN is a WIN for all of us. HOWEVER....

A great analogy is Airport Security: to get more security, the regular passengers endure long lines to get scanned plus scans of our checked luggage. I have had to endure long lines at TSA at major airports. Fortunately for me, I am not checking in a major airport, such as in Atlanta (Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport) too often. These inconveniences are not the same for everyone, as usual.

I believe it did slightly more good than harm but… I’m not doing the maths to figure it out for certain.

Let's see, can we post videos again?

No? Then it was pointless... The black jesus is not impressed.-BJ

p.s.-calling attempts to find my dice hack, "updates," is laughable. They are simply combing the system to see how my dice hack is unable to be detected...
