I've been enjoying the FOX game show The Floor, so thought I'd come up with a tournament that resembles the show.
Game play: 1 vs. 1 on settings zombie, no reinforcements, fog ... 30-round limit.
Maps: Each player in the tournament selects which map they want ... each map must be unique, NO repeat maps on this tourney.
PRIZES ... TBA
The size of the floor will depend on how much demand we get for the tournament.
The show goes with 100 squares.
But we could go with as few as 16 squares (CC minimum).
I'm hoping we can go with either 25 or 36 players, but am open to more if we get a good response.
Rules:
The randomizer (random.org) will be used to determine which player goes to the Showdown stage first.
The Chosen player gets to pick any challenger, who borders their square.
They will play a 1 vs. 1 showdown on the challenger's map choice.
The winner stays alive and absorbs the loser's square.
The loser is eliminated.
The winning player is given the choice of challenging another player ... anyone who borders their expanded territory.
OR
The winning player can choose to return to the floor, and the randomizer selects a new Chosen player.
If the Challenger wins the showdown, they inherit the Chosen player's map.
* So if the Chosen Player has Classic, and the Challenger has Arms Race! -- The showdown would be played on Arms Race!.
If the Challenger wins, the Chosen player is eliminated. The Challenger takes over whatever spaces the Chosen player owned, and inherits the Chosen player's map (in this case Classic).
*The randomizer -- When a winning player chooses to return to The Floor, I will use random.org to pick the next Chosen player (only those who have not played a map are eligible for the Randomizer ... once everyone has played a map, the randomizer will reset to include all remaining players).
Settings boost
If a player wins three showdowns in a row, they will earn the Settings Boost, which allows them to choose settings for any 1 future showdown ... (cards, forts, fog?, trench?) ... the 30-round limit is constant.
Winner
The winner is the last player standing at the end of the process -- the player who takes the whole floor.
(Hoping to have minor prize levels along the way for the player who holds the most floor spaces at various checkpoints ... similar to how the game show works).
Sample Floors
The Floor on the left is what the board looks like at the beginning of the game.
The Floor on the right shows the game with 10 players remaining.
The yellow section marks the Chosen player.
In this case, that Chosen player could pick to play on either Africa2 or Rail USA (or return to the Floor)

Sign-ups ... Once sign-ups are closed, random.org will be used to assign squares to each player. Random is an allowed 'map', but only one player can have Random as their map.
