December 24, 22 Adoration
Message from Jesus
I am the way and the truth and the light of the world today and in the days to come. I am the glorious little baby that came into the world to save it from the darkness of sin and death. I was sent to lead the world in the ways of right and truth. I came into the world to show what true love and sacrifice was and is still today. No other person’s sacrifice has covered the multitude of sins as my one act of love and sacrifice did when I died on the Cross. The world has grown dark once again and I am much needed once again in the hearts and minds. Turn to that glorious little baby laying in the manger with hearts ready to receive.
Go.

Looking in the mirror doesn’t bother me at all.

Confed, next time Jesus is on the line, ask him when his birthday is. Or ask the Pope why it was fixed as midwinter.

I'm hoping JP will join us with a wikiquote.

I'm not against you having a party, eating some treats, making a toast or what have you to celebrate some dead person or even a Nazi party members birthday.
I don't mind you writing about birthdays for someone that's no longer celibrating them and won't be reading it.
I do understand why some feel it is a bit unnecessary making several threads a day about it here.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas, Everyone.
Depends who you ask.
It doesn’t really matter to me. I’m glad we have a big mid-winter holiday… we (as humans) have celebrated a mid-winter/solstice holiday since before there was recorded history. So it’s appropriate our biggest holiday should also be at that time. The only reason Christmas does fall on the exact same day as solstice is the calendar was “set” but we lost days because they hadn’t accounted for the 1/4 day like we do now with leap year.
Honestly I feel they should readjust Christmas to match the Solstice.
Now when does it matter… we’ll it matters to people who think 12/25 IS THE EXACT DATE that Jesus was born. I’m sure there are plenty of people. who actually believe this. Many (apparently like Confed) also believe that he was born in year zero of our current calendar, but that’s also false.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Date_of_birth_of_Jesus
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech ... tists.html
No one really knows the exact day or year. We can use some clues to guess but those clues are not necessarily accurate or perfect themselves.
It’s pretty hard to know the exact date of anything that happened 2000 years ago with 100 percent certainty.
Some things that were happening near Emperors or Generals were recorded… but even those can’t be 100%.
Re: HAPPY 2,022nd BIRTHDAY JESUS/MERRY CHRISTMAS 2022 A.D.!!
What really matters is the fact that Jesus was born...what does not matter as much is exactly when He was born. Merry Christmas!

When facts don’t agree with orthodox christian views, typical response… “Well that’s not REALLY important.”
I mean it never occurs to Christians…
1) They claim the Bible is the “Word of God” or at the very least the authors were inspired by God.
2) They claim God is Omniscient and therefore infallible.
3) A factual error or inconsistency is found in the Bible or in their orthodox teachings.
4) They then claim that “well that’s not important anyway.”
…
5) Never occurs to ask, well if there’s one error or inconsistency in supposedly infallible teachings;
wouldn’t that make one at least question the rest of the teachings?
I’m not specifically referring to the date of Christ’s birth here, as that’s not in the Bible.
I’m talking about the concept of critical thinking in general.
That said… since we are talking about dates… how come the two largest sects of Christianity can’t even agree in the date of the Resurrection of Christ?

As I already said, it is not important. If it WERE important, it would have been recorded. Neither the exact date of the Birth or Resurrection of Jesus is not important. And there is the matter of which Calendar is used and how to translate or convert that date, even if it were recorded.jimboston wrote:When facts don’t agree with orthodox christian views, typical response… “Well that’s not REALLY important.”

I doubt Jesus talked about his birthday. Jesus did not come to earth for his Birthday to be celebrated on the EXACT date each year. I know of people born many years later and their birthdates were not recorded. That recording of exact birthdate for most folks likely did not occur until after Gutenberg invented the printing press. We do not even KNOW Gutenberg's birthday.
In fact, celebrating of birthdays in the USA did not become important for the most folks until about 1860 in the USA.
Thus all of jimb's arguments here are invalid, AGAIN. jimb needs a lesson on critical thinking.
jimb wants AGAIN to make a mountain out of a point of MINUTIA. jimb is good at that, dealing with minutia.

I guess you missed the part where I noted I wasn’t specifically referring to his birthday?
So he didn’t come here for us to celebrate his birthday… he we go crazy each year for it.
I’m guessing the date of his Resurrection isn’t very important either?

Considering less than 15% of humans that have lived on this planet were Christians, that majority says this is a moot point

The Great Commission
Go therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

1) The Eastern Orthodox (EO) and the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) both profess to believe in the same God.
2) The EO and RCC both set, as part of the DOCTRINE, different dates for the MOST IMPORTANT DAY IN THEIR RELIGION’S CALENDAR.
3) They both 100% believe they have the absolutely correct date, and are both unwilling to compromise and merge dates.
4) Only one can be factually correct.
5) So that means one of these religions is definitely wrong about a key part of their doctrine.
with me so far?
6) So if an organized religion can be wrong about something so important, why would we not consider they could be wrong about other things?
… now expand this to other religions…

I missed nothing.
If dates mean nothing in the view of organized religion then a lot of dominoes begin to fall.
*guess keeping the “sabbath” holy as a day of rest and reflection is useless, you can just choose your own day to rest and pray.
(f*ck what the 10 Commandments say)
*Imams are now cool with just going to chill on Friday and skipping Friday prayers right?
*What’s the meaning of a “Holy Day of Obligation” if the dates have no meaning or power.
*Why do the RCC and EO argue over the “right” date of Easter if the day doesn;t really matter?
I mean my whole life growing up in Catholicism they hammered in the importance of specific dates… and now your telling me they were wrong?

It's fucking FAITH. What anyone else thinks does not matter. Especially faceless idiots like JP / etc.
I'm agnostic but went to private Catholic college; any of the fathes there would tell you this.
Move on for f*ck sakes.
I recall the first sentence out of the father's mouth in theology 101 were "the bible is a work of fiction"

I guess I’m trying to differentiate between faith in some sort of God and faith in an Institution like the Catholic Church.KoolBak wrote:It's fucking FAITH. What anyone else thinks does not matter. Especially faceless idiots like JP / etc.

I’m also trying to ponder the question… at what point do you realize or acknowledge your faith is misplaced?
Like the boy who cried wolf…
The townspeople who came to his aid when he “cried wolf” had faith that he was being honest and had a need.
They got burnt once, then twice but then they couldn’t believe him anymore.
It’s not a perfect analogy, because in the fictional story the boy was honest the last time…
or like one of our former Presidents said…
