As RL winds down (well-fought, all!), we have a suggestion for future Random Leagues.

The MVP threshold is currently set at half the maximum games (22 games this year). In our clan, we try to balance games pretty evenly among participating players (especially in Random League), and there are presumably other clans who assign similarly. As a result, we only had one member who had more than the minimum requirement of 22 games and only 7 that were at that minimum. This means, for example, that Bariclaw, who will have won an amazing 91% of his 21 games (one short of the minimum), doesn't qualify for the MVP. We had similarly few qualifiers last year for the same reason.

We would suggest that for future Random Leagues, the minimum to qualify for MVP be reduced or even eliminated (since, presumably, clans will not name an MVP that only played in 3 games or something). The rules are set for this year, and we'll select a non-Bari MVP (also very deserving!) accordingly, but we want to put the issue on the agenda for consideration for next year.

Bariclaw's performance and results were amazing, and he was the MVP. Being short by 1 isn't his fault, it's on us as leaders.

Additionally, I personally think the minimum is ridiculous and needs to be lowered (by a lot) or removed. As I understand things, the winning clan picks the MVP from within the clan - there are no cases where the minimum is necessary or relevant. No clan would pick a player that played in like 3 games.

I haven’t looked at their record (or others records) yet because it’s not completed. There used to be a formula that was widely used. If it’s literally off by one, I know things used to be given exceptions and I wouldn’t be opposed to looking into it once this completes

I went through all the matches, looks like all can be called except for 3 matches. Waiting on results for:

R11 - LIONs vs AFOS

Once we get those, we can finalize all the scores and go through MVP stuff.

Keep in mind I haven't looked at anyone elses records, so i'm not sure if theres other strong candidates but just briefly looking at this based on historical stuff and the info I see at a glance:

A^ used 21 players this year
Average game count was 18+ games each player
Historically, 10 games would have been minimum requirement to just medal at all
22 Games was the minimum for MVP listed
Bariclaw did in fact play 21 games
He won 19/21 games (90+ %)
10/11 dubs
2/2 trips

Generally I would definitely think he qualifies for a MVP (but again, I only really looked at him and the overall group I dont know what everyone else scored)

Example: if there was a 88% player who did qualify vs 90% who technically doesn't, its hard to take that away from the person who "should" have gotten it but if the next closest wasn't all that close, then I could definitely see the argument there.

I'll have a quick chat with assist TO Keefie and make sure we're on the same page. If you wanna let me know the next few %'s that might help (i assume you already have it, and i would have to come up with them all individually). From there, if we are in agreement, then I'll make sure the CD's dont have an issue and go from there.

I am so honored to be on this awards stage with such an incredible group of people. There are so many people to thank. I have to begin with my agents, who got me these games to play in. I also need to thank my mother, who turned 80 years old this last week. And to my wife and two daughters, please know that I have done all this for you!!!

I feel so fortunate to play with such an amazing group of Ascended people. I will start by mentioning my being a part of the glorious love duo Baridoc, who brought the entirety of Ascension to its knees and gobsmacked them by showing utter domination within the clan. I also must mention my special relationship as a part of Team Barfus. My dear friend Dufus, who first brought me to the Conquered Clubs, was my teammate in the majority of our random league games and a fantastic partner. He is the yin to my yang. He is my brother. He brings tremendous joy to my life. I envision a power thrupple one day (Barfdoc? Hillfusclaw? Duhillbarf?).
