I haven’t run a joined powers tournament since 2009 so it’s high time for another.
For those unfamiliar, a little backstory. I first joined CC back in 2007. Shortly after I found tournaments and the first one I ever participated i. Was a joined powers tournament. It was back in the Wild West of tournaments when organizers might or might not finish what they started. In this case it wasn’t finished and was one of the abandoned tournaments (Here is the mess of the thread that I should have known better.
viewtopic.php?f=93&t=28568).
So I always have a little piece of my heart, or at least my beard, for joined powers tournaments.
Here is how this one is going to run.
I will take all comers. You have the month of June to sign up. We need at least 32 players but will take everyone who wants in
In July I will create the games. We need an even number of players so I’m in or not depending on how many sign up there are.
Players will be ranked 1 through x (x is the total number of entries) based on your score at the point games are created.
At that point doubles teams will be created. The highest scored player (1) will play with the lowest player (x). They will face off against the middle team (x/2 and x/2-1). The next game will be the second highest (2) and the second lowest x-1) vs the next middles (x/2-2 and x/2+1). Any byes needed will work from the fringes.
You will play a set of best of three doubles with your partner.
They will all be no spoils, chained, sunny, no trench, automatic sequential with a 30 round limit.
Round 1 will be played on. Triple Alliance.
At the end of round 1 all players will be rescored and reseeded, even those who had a round 1 bye. There will be no further byes
Round 2 will be played on Alexander’s Empire
At the end of round 2 all players are again rescored and reseeded.
Round 3 will be played on North America
At the end of round 3 all players are again rescored and reseeded
Round 4 games are played on Iberia
From this point on its becomes as necessary. If we start with 32 players we are done at the end of Iberia beyond this it’s a matter of how many join so we may not play any of these maps. Players though will continue to be rescored and reseeded after each round
Round 5 games are played on Australia. (Used if we have anywhere from 34-64 players)
Round 6 games are played on France 2.1 (used if we have between 66 and 128 players)
Round 7 games are played on Caribbean Islands (used if we have 130-264 players)
I’m doubtful we get past this point but if so we’ll play one on classic.
