aaronvollrath has replaced CaronlyKluster, who is on CC hiatus.

Team 10 pays the 5-point penalty for a substitution.

Speaking of points, there are still two active games in Round 2 and still one active game in Round 1!

Will only score a Round once ALL games in it are finished.

Quite a few missed invites.

gorehound from Team 8, 3 invites missed
Caymanmew from Team 9, 3 invites missed
TX AG 90 from Team 3, 3 invites missed
william tennant, also from Team 3, only missed 1 invite out of 3.
Tiberius Maximus from Team 10, missed 3 invites.

All of the above have been re-sent.

In addition, Team 18 has resigned in its entirely. We are currently looking for a reserve team. If we don't find one in a few days we will activate the dropout scoring rules.

We are just getting kinda tired of first turn always winning the game (for either side).

If not, no worries, thanks for organizing!

God Bless,

Team 13 changes map to NW Passage starting in Round 6.

Can we wait a bit before sending next turn ? Currently still got one game from round 2, all round 3, round 4 and round 5 games active.
If we could wait that round 3 finishes before sending round 6 that'd be nice.
Not sure what is the planning but I felt round 3 to 5 were sent pretty close to each other.

Some updates:
  1. Heads or tails wrote:Where are the standings at?

    The standings are at https://challonge.com/3bbybd1z/standings.

NOTE: I only score a round when ALL games in that round are finished. Thus, the standings right now only reflect Round 1 and Round 2. Rounds 3-5 still have active games.

After two rounds three teams are tied for 1st place, with 21 points each: Three Tracks in the Snow (silly, js, and tam), T4 (grt, Codfish, and Ukey), and T15 (Lancelot, Unai, and Donelladan). Don't despair if you are not in the top 3 -- there is plenty more action to come and tons of opportunities to make up lost ground!
  2. Donelladan wrote:Can we wait a bit before sending next turn ? Currently still got one game from round 2, all round 3, round 4 and round 5 games active.

Not sure what is the planning but I felt round 3 to 5 were sent pretty close to each other.

I would like to address this in some detail.

The original intent was to send out a round approximately two weeks apart, with a lower limit of 10 days apart and an upper limit of 30 days apart.

First round went out January 6th.
Second round went out February 24th. (50 days after the first, completely blowing away the 30-day limit I had originally set for myself.)
Third round went out March 24th (28 days after round 2)
Round 4 went out April 6th (13 days after round 3)
Round 5 went out Aprili 18h (12 days after round 4)

So, yes, Rounds 4 and 5 came out fairly close together. This was intentional. Silly Knig-it came on board to help save the schedule because I was floundering, and I asked him to send the next two rounds fairly close together to help make up for lost time. Really, it's fairly close to the "every two weeks" schedule that was the original goal.

Right now we are 21 days after round 5 went out, so I think we should have the next round ASAP. I don't think waiting for all games to finish in round 3 is a good idea -- that would probably push us to a monthly schedule, which is just too far apart. If, however, there are a significant number of people who are finding the game load excessive, we could switch to "every three weeks" as the target instead of "every two weeks."

Either way, round 6 is due to launch imminently. I'll leave it up for discussion whether (moving forward) most players would like to stick with the "2 weeks" target or adjust to a "3 weeks" target.

    Some other announcements:
  3. Team 18 (Parked, srmaster, General So) resigned en masse at the end of round 4. I have put out some feelers for a replacement team, but after three weeks have not had anyone step up. Thus, we go to the Special Scoring Rules.
Dukasaur wrote:here's some special rules to cover resignations and disappearances.
    • If a team resigns or is removed after the fifth round, any round for which games have begun will be scored as normal. Any team scheduled to play them thereafter will score the average of what teams playing against them scored in the rounds before they resigned. Example: A team has scored 12, 4, 3, and 9 in the first four rounds. In round 5 it resigns after games have begun. The scores for the first five rounds will stand. Teams scheduled to play them starting with round 6 will be credited 6 points each. The round 5 score will stand, but will not be included in the average, because it is possible that by now they are falling apart, missing turns, etc., and to include that in the average would artificially inflate it.

I had envisioned that special scoring rules would only kick in after round 5, and we would use reserves until then. As it turns out, however, we have no reserves, so we will start the special scoring rules in round 5 instead of after round 5. Small tweak.
  4. My team-mate for many years, TX AG 90 has left CC. Consequently, willedtowin1 will be stepping up to replace him. We will be charged the 5-point penalty for a replacement. This will not show up in the standings until Round 6 is scored.

There was one previous replacement in this tournament: aaronvollrath replaced CaronylKluster on Team 10. This will be charged to them when scoring Round 4.

Updates:

Tonight I scored Round 4, Round 5, and most of Round 3 (there is still one ongoing game in Round 3 which will affect the score for 2 teams.)

Thus all scores are in to the end of Round 5 except one game.

From Round 5 on, everyone scheduled to face the defunct Team 18 scores 9 points.

Quite a few games are ongoing in Round 6. Round 7 should be going out soon.

Just a reminder....

For some inexplicable reason, three players from two different teams failed to join Game 20999289, even though the same players all joined their other games in the same series.

Weird. Anyway, all three invites re-sent.
