mookiemcgee wrote:As far as Kotaro's opinion about restricting a citizens right to vote... everyone is welcome to their opinion, but restricting your right to vote because you are poor or make bad life decisions is unconstitutional and frankly un-american. The suggestion that someone needs to 'eat the right foods' or have a certain level or education or pass some intelligence test in order to be allowed to vote is sort of... antiquated. While it might result in a 'better run gov't' , it's a pretty 'un-american' idea.
In short, yes, there should be more barriers in place in this U.S. This whole 'Turn 18 get the keys to life' idea does not align well with all these children that never grew up. People are too stupid and uninformed to vote (see: Republicans), and should have to prove themselves as adult before they are given rights. Not only voting, but driving, smoking and drinking should all have more barriers than just age, display some intelligence in order to get your rights.
As for it being un-American or 'not in line with American values for the last 150 years,' your opinions are very, very white, and it makes me wonder if you've ever interacted with or read/heard a news story about a minority, because barriers in life are actually very American.

Meanwhile, the GOP has just filed 12 more lawsuits against various elections officials in Georgia. President Trump has a solemn respect for the rule of law.
So you scream in someones ear to prevent them from counting legal votes? Is this your way of following Trumps example of having a solemn respect for the rule of law? By the way, Trumps lead is down to less than 19 thousand, going to be sad when he loses PA too.

Yes, Hitler... I mean Trump, may try and use the military against its own populace. Not surprisingly, this would likely lead to mass desertion and dissidence, as the military turns on itself. Because, despite someone in this thread insinuating that military personnel are mindless drones that follow orders blindly, they've only done so against enemies of the American people, and not actually against their own populace.
