Re: Snapshots
I support this suggestion. Going first gives an unfair and may I say irrelevant advantage in fog games. A snapshot of the board before any move is made is the way it should be.
Re: Snapshots
Also a snap at the start of Round 2 in games with manual troops.
This has been suggested before at least once, but it's still a very necessary update to the site in my opinion. There is no reason not to have this other than the time it takes to implement, which I think is why it hasn't happened yet after being suggested before.

Re: Snapshots
How about snapshots for players who joined ages ago? My account does not even have the ability to take snapshots and the fact that others do gives them a huge advantage that is not available to people like me who joined before the function even existed. If you can't make it so everyone has it, then nobody should have it.
Re: Snapshots
Snapshots are available to anyone. Make sure you have Panel mode turned on and Advanced Game Processing turned on and you can take a snapshot any time. You can even set it so that it takes a snapshot automatically every turn.ATLBravosfan wrote:How about snapshots for players who joined ages ago? Re: Snapshots
Do some research. This has been suggested countless times. Supposedly (if you believe it) the coding for a game to automatically snapshot when it starts is too hard. I imagine it's more likely related to shit servers.

I don’t remember you being such a penis in the past. Of course, I was mainly drunk when I was here before. So that might explain it.
Pity.
Too bad I’m not still drinking as much.

I was definitely as much a dickhead in the past but it was probably less in your face ‘cause the forums were more active. Also I think we worked on the Dispatch together but if memory serves you were on your way out around that time.

Re: Snapshots
Combine pre-game snap with an opponent score range selector and 1v1 will actually become interesting again...

Re: Snapshots
Bump. Why hasn't this been implemented yet when everyone agrees that it's obvious it's just the way it should be?????
Re: Snapshots
100% agree this should be implemented, because with 200+ games your just running thought the games, and in some tournaments you forfeit the games if you do not wait 12 hours for the other player to get snaps, and that has happened to me a number of times. If this was implanted no one would have to wait 12 hours anymore for the other player to get snaps.
Re: Snapshots
I've heard multiple players having this issue, typically those who as you say have been around a while.ATLBravosfan wrote:How about snapshots for players who joined ages ago? This is a bug that needs fixing.
As for snapshot at beginning of game, I am absolutely supportive of that.
Re: Snapshots
I've never seen such a bug. In order to take snapshots, you need Panels turned on, Advanced Game Processing turned on. Also, if you want to take them automatically, you need to turn on Automated Snapshots. Two settings, three if you want them automatic.Yynatago wrote:I've heard multiple players having this issue, typically those who as you say have been around a while.ATLBravosfan wrote:How about snapshots for players who joined ages ago? I've heard many people say they couldn't take snapshots, but on investigation it turned out, in every case, that either they had their Panels turned off, or they had their Advanced Game Processing turned off. No bug, just people not checking their settings.
Agree on that one!Yynatago wrote:As for snapshot at beginning of game, I am absolutely supportive of that.

Re: Snapshots
Doesn't it mean the site has a lack of communication on this feature Dukasaur ?
I've also encountered many many old players that didn't know about the panel interface, therefore neither about snapshots nor map inspect.
People that don't play teams games aren't aware of the snaps I think. As soon as they play one team game and they see their partner throwing snapshots in the chat it changes.

I don't disagree. Many things on the site could be explained better.Donelladan wrote:Doesn't it mean the site has a lack of communication on this feature Dukasaur ?

Re: Snapshots
I support this obvious suggestion, so we can get rid of the "12 hour fog" rule!

Re: Snapshots
Wouldn't that be the only logical reason for having snappies in the first place? That is the single most important snappy! And it doesn't even snap it! No point in snappies then when you miss out on the most important snap!Elaterate wrote:How about a snaphot of the board before anyone plays a turn?
That is like going to the dealership and buying a brand new car but it doesn't come with tires. Fukking stupid!
