I didn't say anything about Kavanaugh specifically. I said the American judiciary in general. The US has at least some partial judges who are nominated, by politicians, precisely because the politicians nominating them are aware that those judges are partial and favor those politicians' political leanings.

Looking at your claim that some judges are 'activists' who ignore precedent (even though the US has a case law system) and are picked by America's politicians precisely because they behave in this way, I was correct in saying what I did and you agree with me.

Kavanaugh may well be completely impartial as an individual, but the US justice system as a whole isn't and that is why people are able to gain traction when throwing shade at Kavanaugh's impartiality.

I suppose the alternative is that the ruling party removes all opposition party judges, imprisons and/or executes them, and replaces them with ruling party loyal judges. That seems like a process that work for you mrs.

Or, you could, you know, try to have a process that's about selecting competent practitioners of jurisprudence rather than standard-bearers for political parties.

RBG was not my favorite female justice (that would be SDO'C... I also really like Kagan - she's awesome in oral argument). In any event, the alternative to your "a guy who just dedicated himself to partisan politics" is "a guy who was just raked over the coals for one uncorroborated rape account from 36 years ago because of partisan politics." There's this thing with liberals where they are pretending Kavanaugh is the one who brought the partisan politics; pretty clear who did that from 20 minutes after Kavanaugh was nominated until now.

In any event, yeah, we should show some respect to RBG even if liberals couldn't do it for Kavanaugh (literally, 23 minutes after he was nominated).

Ignoring the toothless liberals on SNL, I keep going back and forth over how effective this week is going to be for Dems. On the one hand, the FBI are cops, and they aren't going to be invested in this any more than they have to be. And all it is going to provide is an excuse for the Flakes and Collins of the senate to point at the results and say, "well, they didn't find anything, so I can vote 'yea' and use it as a Democrat-created shield from the repercussions." Worse, it provides the same opportunity to fucking Manchin and Heitkamp to continue voting Republican.

On the other hand, it provides time for people like Chad Ludington (a guy named "Chad Ludington" went to Yale? Say it ain't so!) and others to speak out. Obviously the FBI is going to be useless here, and perhaps even harmful to the Dem cause, but the more time we have for Chad Ludingtons (lol) can only help. Frankly, until the day of the vote, I don't even want to make a prediction anymore.

It's funny to me how so much of this has all been done before. During Clinton's impeachment, Dems were all about "it was just a blowjob," and Reps were quick to remind us it eventually became about "perjury." Obviously it was about abuse of power too, but different times. There's so much of Kav's testimony that could be targeted in a real way to try to expose perjury and damage his credibility as a judge, and not just his character. But Dems seem unwilling to do that, either because they are just inept, or are planning to use Kav's confirmation as some sort of campaign tool. In either case, they've already lost, and deservedly so.

Maybe the fact that Trump has completely screwed the pooch with his 'I hate China' approach. On top of the tariffs he's also now started sanctioning the Chinese military and making arms sales to Taiwan, to the effect that China is refusing to talk to America about the tariffs any more and postponed bilateral military talks that were meant to happen next week.

Trump is playing hardball and offering no mercy, no quarter. The brittle Chinese political system is being pushed to the breaking point at an accelerated rate.

The NASDAQ and NYSE continue to surge as the Shanghai Composite is in a state of collapse. The Chinese factory sector is contracting as the U.S. surpasses full employment.
