Hip-hop is a dying genre. Nobody knows what it means anymore- even the last poster used 2pac as an example of... something.

I don't hate hip-hop, but when you're pulling up dated 2pac vids to support the idea that it isn't, some people will call you out.

Maybe, as long as you combine it with other genres like R&B and Rap. I'm just saying that Hip Hop is dying. It will not survive as an independent type of music.

Do you really think that there will be Hip Hop bars and connoisseurs preserving it? At best, the cognoscenti will sample it.

RIP Hip Hop- you had a terrible name, but we loved you.

R&B is a difficult one but rap is hip hop and vice versa. Or one within the other. You can argue it any way you like but the genre is the same. Grime is growing in the UK and rap/hip hop is growing in the US too. There is a lot of it in the charts now compared to when the likes of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry etc. were dominating which wasn't too long ago. The only genre possibly growing faster is unfortunately kpop.

Hmm, you're kinda proving my point

In this thread- Katy Perry and 2Pac are Hip Hop.
