Re: Likely to have a tattoo?
I feel like when it comes to tattoos, you either have to have nothing (maintaining the natural appearance of an ancient Olympic athlete) or you have to go all out and completely cover yourself, like Beckham, Chris Brown or at least Bieber.
Having just one or two basic bitch tattoos is the mark of someone who'll have type 2 diabetes by age 34.

Is there a hopelessly obscure reference that makes this joke even remotely funny or are you just being completely random, Mr. swdk?mrswdk wrote:I feel like when it comes to tattoos, you either have to have nothing (maintaining the natural appearance of an ancient Olympic athlete) or you have to go all out and completely cover yourself, like Beckham, Chris Brown or at least Bieber.

And yeah, I know the damage done by a tattoo needle is pretty trivial, but little things add up. Those tiny little cells around each needle prick will never be normal again. Every living cell is precious. The universe is 99.9999999999% death. Don't add to the problem by hurting yourself.
Besides that, it's aesthetics. A normal human body is a beautiful thing. Don't mess with perfection.
I respectfully disagree about the universe. Remember there are always two ways to look at things. The universe is actually alive. It is the building blocks for consciousness. It is ever expanding giving life two new universes. You yourself are a microcosm of that life/death and hence you are alive and conscious.
Re: Likely to have a tattoo?
I just noticed Caeleb Dressel is pretty tattooed. Not the normal swimmer Olympic rings in the armpit either, but all kinds of half-finished uglys polluting his other arm. My point is that it isn't the clear-cut solemn pact that it used to be. I know, we like our Nazis in uniform but just like I can't write out people who wear t-shirts outdoors (for the record, they are still underwear, not overwear), you can't write off people with tatoos anymore.saxitoxin wrote:If your friends appeared on TV would it more likely be (a) Can't Pay? A tattoo is a solemn pact with the angel of mediocrity.
Unless you're a soldier, sailor, Jewish-German, or member of an outlaw motorcycle gang, a tattoo is just something that screams "aspiring suburban dad."
Sorry to be so blunt but this is a trigger topic for me.
People like to laugh at the conservative groups that protested Elvis, Black Sabbath, Dungeons and Dragons, whatever. The scariest part isn't how wrong they were though. It's how right they were. Bodily self-mutilation is seen as a norm in our society. Next step is sacrificing babies to Molech (conveniently done at the local abortion clinic).

Re: Likely to have a tattoo?
I liked tattoos when I was young and I still like some tattoos some of the time...
However, they are now mostly played out as a cultural trope.
I look forward to the next generation, the Post-Mills, thinking that tats are just square and old hat.

Precisely. You can't be put off by it anymore, despite what 1942 Miss Manners Monthly says.2dimes wrote:Huh, he did not seem put off by my T-shirt when we had lunch.

Don't get a tattoo if you don't know how to read or write the language it's in, and especially not if the artist doesn't know either.
