A bunch of meanies in these forums. Can I get a mod for disenfranchised Wings fans? :(

Only if you are referring to the band.

His name is Mike Babcock.

Ok, question - who do you trust within your organization more? Shanahan, or Babcock? Different job descriptions, true, but if you had to choose one or the other?

Interesting question. They kinda go hand in hand at the moment with both committed to a rebuild via talent development as opposed to trading future draft picks for a quick fix. I'd probably go with Shanahan at this point, even though he's not really a proven talent. The coach can come later if need be. We'd have to ensure we replace him with a coach with a proven history of developing young players though.

Now see boys and girls, this is how you answer questions. +1 for Butters, -57 for Doom.
I find it interesting that you went with Shanahan, and it's hard to disagree. Once you build the team, then you hire the coach. Toronto seems to be lucky in the front office right now.

How happy are you that Lou Lamoriello is part of the team? Are you concerned at all that he'll take over and run the team with his typical iron fist? Or would you welcome that?

To recap:
Butters: +1
Doom: -57

Shanahan's approach to statistics is to copy what people were doing 10 years ago. It's just a new version of the anti-stats dinosaur that somehow got cred for being "analytic". Statistics requires a pliable mind to interpret the information and new, creative approaches to analyzing the information. Can we move on from Corsi?

Babcock's a good coach, plain and simple.

I don't watch any Around the Horn, if you're referring to me. Why, do they harp on Lou all the time there? I'm surprised they talk about hockey at all, it's ESPN.

Me personally, I'd probably take Babcock. He's a proven winner. The Wings were fading the last few years, but I can't blame Babcock for that; Holland wasn't making great roster decisions, and that finally caught up to the team. Shanahan hasn't really built anything yet, and it's still a gamble that he'll be successful. Babcock has the track record you're looking for, and as long as Shanny doesn't go making horrible roster decisions, then the Leafs should soon be a consistent Wild Card team.

Yeah, but you got Kasperi Kapanen. That name alone made the trade a win for Toronto.

Symmetry, you are a disturbed idiot. I told you several times... We don t give a shit about your sexual orientation. Stop talking about it each time you are menstruating. If you want to fight for gay rights, i m sure the real world would be more meaningful than a risk website s forum.

No worries. He's only projecting. He feels different, perhaps due to some trauma or whatever, and now projects those feelings onto CC. Nobody does indeed care whether he's gay or not, though he shouldn't expect us to shout out "hot" when he posts men's pics in the OT.

Here's one issue: the LGBT community talks out of both sides of the mouth.

For years, the gay have been saying that they are "born that way" that homosexual is "something you are" meaning it can't be cured.
Now, Judith Butler comes along 30 years ago and says that actually gender isn't "something you are" but it is "something you do".

So, if it's something you are, then the transgender can be cured. If it's something you do, then they can all be cured by doing something else. The only reason both schizophrenic versions of the story can coexist is because nobody is allowed to have an honest debate about the topic, either though gender studies is at almost every University.

So we need a moderator to settle the debate amongst the LGBT community: which is it - something you "do" or "are". Then, the sane world can at least attack only one argument instead of a flanking surprise attack.

Either way, if it's something you "are", so is being a bigot, and the rights of bigots should be respected. If it's something you "do", so is being a bigot, and the rights of bigots should be respected.

I can only assume you've had some sort of catastrophic brain malfunction after this and your previous antisemitic forum rant. Is there a condition where you might irrationally hate people who use both sides of their mouths when speaking?

I do need to ask, DY, is it possible that you've had a stroke? Have you been checked?

Hey now, please stop threatening Doomyoshi with strokes or death of any kind. That's totally inappropriate.

Doom, there is a difference between being gay and being transgendered. Also cured is a very poor choice of words to describe being gay, as it implies it is some sort of disease or curable condition (which is incorrect scientifically, regardless of your moral beliefs on the subject). Now being transgendered is not a uniform thing, it is more of a spectrum than any single specific condition. I would at least agree scientifically that someone born with both sets of gender equipment may be something that can be cured. But if its not a physiological condition, but rather an issue of self identification then 'cure' is once again totally the wrong term to be using. Yes, its all nuanced and compicated. Judith Butler is just one women with one opinion and I don't think she peaks for every gay/trans person out there...

Cured is a good choice of words since transgendered is a mental illness as classified by the WHO. It can and should be cured.
