WOW.
Until tonight, I never added up the scores for this tournament. I had the occasional look in the games, and it seemed very close. Just goes to show you that casual observation is no substitute for measured quantities. In actual fact, it was a blowout.
My friend and clanmate
geko was shut out with 0 points.
Kizkiz and
TheJonah fared not much better, with 2 kills each but no wins.
Frito Bandito only scored one kill in the whole tournament, but he did manage to sneak in a win by objective in one of the Rome games, and thus ends up with 3 points overall.
ViperOverLord was in 4th place overall, scoring a win and seven kills for 9 points overall.
Junior Bee, who dominated these tournaments, ended up in 3rd place, with 2 wins and 6 kills for a total of 10 points.
Carp1968 is in 2nd place, with 2 wins and 10 kills for 14 points overall.
And the overall winner, by a huge margin, was
uckuki. With 2 wins and a whopping 20 kills, uckuki racks up 24 points, as many as the 2nd and 3rd place players combined. A very resounding win! Well done, uckuki.
Incidentally, I never did post the scoring system. And in all this time, nobody has ever asked. In my mind it was obvious that we were using the same scoring formula as in the Finales of the original series -- 1 point per kill and 2 extra for the win. Since nobody asked, I think everybody assumed the same. Lest you think this leaves room for an appeal, it does not. The results would be the same by pretty much any plausible scoring formula.
To me, there is something special about the 2011 crop of maps. It was the best year the Foundry ever had, and the nine maps in this tournament series were some of the most beautiful that CC has ever seen. I really loved this series of tournaments, and I hope you did, too. I notice there were some hard feelings in some of the games, as is natural when games go on for a long time. I hope in the end you felt it was an enjoyable journey. Thank you all for playing.
