actually my deal was with the colours and the continents over there. Since the city of byzantium is not part of the continent byzantium, and the country lies on both places combined with the fact that a dark pink/purple will look fairly similar to the dark blue, people might be confused . I think byzantium would be better served with the green colour. but, that's just a thoughthulmey wrote:the white borders look o.k. in the uk but towards spain and greece they have alot more glow and look whiter.
Think your also going to have a problem with people not knowing if they can attack from the place edbard mentioned and maybe to a smaller extent the gabraltor area.

I don't know if this has been mentioned (I looked back and I didn't see it), but the person who starts with Rome has a huge advantage. It should start as a neutral territory.

They will indeed be starting neutral.pancakemix wrote:I don't know if this has been mentioned (I looked back and I didn't see it), but the person who starts with Rome has a huge advantage. It should start as a neutral territory.

OK then next update I'll switch them.Ruben Cassar wrote:I think it would be better if it's not a hassle for you to switch the colours.Guiscard wrote: As for the colours of Germania and Gallia, would changing the colours of Hispania and Gallia help? Hmm... I'd like to see what other people think about this. Does anyone else think that confusion between which continent Byzantium belongs to will be a major problem? I could:edbeard wrote:actually my deal was with the colours and the continents over there. a) Swap colours around
b)confine Byzantium to the physically greek continent, but then we have the issue of whether you can attack across the border or not.
I thought it was fairly obvious that it was part of Greece, as it is blue and to me it wouldn't be mistaken for dark pink... And it should be obvious that it belongs as the dark orange obviously belongs to light orange africa and the dark red to light red italia.
As for the spain/africa border, is this a problem for anyone other than Hulmey? Any suggestions for making it more obvious? I'm loathe to add arrows an suchlike unless they show one way borders...

It is fairly obvious, I don't think it needs changing.Guiscard wrote:Hmm... I'd like to see what other people think about this.

Looks fine to me - if it's really an issue, couldn't you use them little white circles to indicate a sea route between them?Guiscard wrote:As for the spain/africa border, is this a problem for anyone other than Hulmey? Really though, I've never heard anyone complain that Morocco can attack Spain on the Europe map we already have, so I don't think it needs changing.
Regarding the borders, I think the thinner borders are better.
I'm not great at specifiying exactly what's wrong, but the british isles glow too much because of their island borders.
Sicily also is a bit dull on the fill colour while too bright on the border... I hope you know where I'm coming from with this, just rambling really.

No changes are needed. Everything is straightforward and obvious.Guiscard wrote:

To be honest, I don't mind this effect at all - when my eye is drawn to that image I think it gives the sense of glory and overwhelming power of the Romans at that time.AndyDufresne wrote:Hm, I do like the images, but the color in the top one always sticks out when I notice it. Map is looking great Guiscard - I'm still not too sure about some of the colours but I can't quite put my finger on it so I'll leave it up to the rest.

Yes I think the central image is fine as well. I like the Colosseum with the eagle in front of it although now it looks a bit more like a statue than a standard carried during wars.RobinJ wrote:To be honest, I don't mind this effect at all - when my eye is drawn to that image I think it gives the sense of glory and overwhelming power of the Romans at that time.AndyDufresne wrote:Hm, I do like the images, but the color in the top one always sticks out when I notice it. I love the update!
Sicilia seems a bit too dull as compared to the other red countries (with the possible exception of Corsica + Sardinia, though they're OK with it). Is that just me, or could you brighten it to match the others (like Liguria and venetia).
Does Carthage get a 1 bonus as I think it does from the legend? if so I think Africa may be a bit overpowered, with a total 5 armies for 6 terits and 3 borders.

The issue is with the inner shadow rather than the brightness, but I'll bump sicilia to another layer and reduce it a little so it matches the other territories in the next update.The1exile wrote:I love the update!

As for the bonus that is a reasonable suggestion so I'll take it down 1 next update.
As for Andy's comment about the top image, I can fade it a little but I'm loathe to, as RobinJ said, because it sort of shows the emperor looking out over his empire in a pretty glorious fashion. I wanted to make that area of neutral more of a feature to save it being just a brown block, and I think the image as it is now works... Other opinions?
Ideally I'd like some debate about gameplay at this point... Good? Bad? Bottlenecks? Bonuses? Enough / Too many sea routes?

I think you should concentrate on the feedback everybody has given you before you change direction and move to game play.....Some of the colours really stick out and arent pleasant. Also theres still glow espically in the greece/mediterran border for one.

Ok... Is this better? Faded both those colours slightly, which to me looks more fitting anyway...sam_levi_11 wrote:germany draws the eye for me. germany france and that are very bright but the others not quite so, make them all that bright exept africa which colour suits it i say
And also sorted Sicilia, as I said earlier.

With so many people having problems with the colours, would it be worthwhile looking at a completely new colour set Guiscard? I don't mind the current colours but you might find completely new ones work better. The current colours are starting to look washed out and don't really suit the background areas or the legend. With all the minor tweaking you may have lost the initial direction you were taking. Just a thought.
I don't think it's the colours, it's mostly just the brightness of them that was the issue and Guis has greatly improved that now.KEYOGI wrote:With so many people having problems with the colours, would it be worthwhile looking at a completely new colour set Guiscard? Question. Isn't there 44 total territories, or 43 when Rome is neutralised? Isn't that a bit unbalanced? Or have I been reading the map wrong and there isn't a territory name missing west of Numidia? Could just be that the nile looks too much like a country border.
I was going to suggest splitting Cartaginesis into 2 terits so you get 6 terits and 2 borders for a 3 bonus, which I think is fairer than what we have at the moment.

EDIT: Ignore most of the above. I think the image changed in between posting and reading this again. bleh... the point about Hispania stands though.

No I would stick with the historical borders as much as possible. There are other places were a new territory could be added. But is it necessary? Guiscard how many territories are there in the map? I believe 3 start as neutrals.The1exile wrote:
