Ok, I understand new recruits getting one star but look at the rest of the ratings he gives. Pretty much everyone he plays gets 5 stars for fair play, and 0 for game play and attitude. It's not even like he is winning all these games. There is just no need, only played him as he was also in a guide game, are guide games not meant to help people get into CC not turn them away?

Re: proto1yp
Take a look at the games that involved the players that got 1 star. You will clearly see "_______ was kicked out for missing too many turns". Why would you give more than one star?

Re: proto1yp
No rating is not the same as a zero rating, and doesn't affect the averages. Maybe he doesn't feel the need, or capability, to rate them on those attributes. 1 star has a much worse effect on one's average than zero.tankgirl99 wrote:Accused:

you should come to C&A more often, just went over all this a few days before your report... BW has no issue with people rating new recruits 1 star for dead beating... makes no sense to me... it is what it is...tankgirl99 wrote:are guide games not meant to help people get into CC not turn them away?

Re: proto1yp
Yeah I had read it, I have no problem with giving people a 1 rating for deadbeating, I have myself, but I guess I just bother with new recruits, chances are they won't be back anyway.
Also I have read through several of the reports of farming when people don't get the guide games, they have amused me a lot!
Ok well if a 0 doesn't count fair enough, just wondered

Re: proto1yp
Have done already, interesting points on both sides being made. I guess I just don't bother rating guide games as it seems silly, no one's playing to their top level when there's no points involved.
But if 0 rating makes no difference to overall rating then fair enough, was just wondering

Although I did not go into great depth at examining prot1yp's ratings, it does appear to have a method. The attitude rating appears to be based on activity in the game chat. The other two ratings appear to be based on performance in the game. This could be the reason for those deadbeat new recruits receiving one star for fair play.

Re: proto1yp
i still find it really amusing that people play in Guide Games to help promote the site and teach new players... then do something like give a negative 1 star rating!! BW says it is ok, but it still makes no sense to me. you join them voluntarily, you know there is a great chance they will never take a turn, so why give a neg rating? anyway, this is a mute point, the owner of the site doesn't see how it is a negative thing, so why should i exhaust myself?-Jésus noirMajor.Bossman wrote:Although I did not go into great depth at examining prot1yp's ratings, it does appear to have a method. Re: proto1yp
- I won't exhaust either, but this was is the best point, Guides go into these games knowing the 97% drop off rate, why bother going through the motions to rate a 97%er? A guy/woman with more than 1 game who beataville railroads deserves it. The motions does not seem worth it.owenshooter wrote:i still find it really amusing that people play in Guide Games to help promote the site and teach new players... then do something like give a negative 1 star rating!! Wrong. A 0 doesn't affect the individual category rated on, but affects the overall rating.clangfield wrote:No rating is not the same as a zero rating, and doesn't affect the averages. Re: proto1yp
It is not mentioned on the Ratings page as the way the calculation is done. It does however say that the ratings are 1 to 5; as a general mathematical principle therefore, zero would be excluded from any calculations.iAmCaffeine wrote:Work it out.clangfield wrote:Where is that documented?iAmCaffeine wrote:Wrong. It doesn't state whether the overall average is taken over all ratings, or the average of each category summed and divided by 3.
Can anyone who actually knows confirm how the calculations are done?
No problem with them, just curious.

I can confirm, because I'm correct. There was a debate on it a while back and someone made the effort to work it out.

Re: proto1yp [ka]
There seems to be some inconsistency in the calculation.iAmCaffeine wrote:I can confirm, because I'm correct. There was a debate on it a while back and someone made the effort to work it out.
For example here is one player (pandapo) who has received 1 star on one rating, and the other two are blank. Their overall average should be 0.333, should it not?
That said, I've then looked at dride506, who has more ratings, and the calculation is as you say.
I would presume therefore that the average rating can't be less than 1. It does however seem mathematically peculiar (ie inept) to have the potential for an overall average which is lower than any of the actual ratings and lower than the average of any of the three individual elements.
