Blakebowling: we need chemefreak back

Postby betiko on Mon Dec 22, 2014 6:50 am

I'd just like to point out an issue. It seems like things are getting a bit out of hands here... Clan medals take monthes to be assigned, war tabs are not regularly updated so it's extremely difficult to fommow what's going on in certain wars.... Basically we have problems with everything that was handled by chemefreak and that used to be done regularly at his time.
Blakebowling decided to kick out such a valuable asset after years of service because he judged that a volunteer was like an employee and that if he didn't accept a boss/subordonate relationship he could just "fire" him. No, that's not how it goes. He was providing a valuable service to CC's customers for free, and now the clan world is much less enjoyable. It feels like the clan world is dying.

Please write a message of support if you too want blakebowling to beg chemefreak to take the job back!!

Apart from a three month hiatus in the summer, I've been responsible for the updating the database (War Tabs) since November 2013, I've always endeavoured to keep it as up to date as possible. What issues are you currently having ?

sorry keefie, as i said to ice this isn't against you guys.
regarding the issue i'm having, is that i'm trying to follow foed's wars in RC semi finals angainst low and in CC5 agaisnt tsm; both have been playing batch 3 since a month or so and batch 3 games are not in those war tabs. We will be facing the winner of both oppositions, so it's pretty interesting for us to know who will win... and how much longer will the wars be more or less.
But it's true that maybe you guys never received those games in your "active war game list"
I don't know if everything else is up to date but given that those 2 wars are the ones I'm interested in right now and that they are far from updated, I assumed it was more or less the same problem everywhere.

Such a great clan mate/leader old cheme. He was a fantastic mod. Be silly not to utilise his services.

Of course Cheme is missed, he was our Rock in the admin team.

Betiko, as for the two wars your interested in. FOED have now updated the active war list for their RC semi final war with LoW, the database is now up to date. We are also working with Fallen and FOED to get their war back on track, RL has got in the way for both clan leaders and the timetable slipped a little.

All other wars and leagues Were / Are / Will be kept up to date.

Thanks for the sentiment betiko. It really means a lot to me.

A few things:

The CD Team is doing a great job considering how understaffed they are. Remember, I was yanked away without any warning. Losing someone with 3+ years of experience at a clip of 10-15 hours per week is definitely going to effect the dynamic of any team. Also, I was removed right in the middle of CCup5, the end of CCup4, and start of CL6. Just another example of Admin having their heads up their asses.

Oh, and as for Blake and bW...I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire (I don't lump KA into this little club, although I am sure he was in favor of removing me, his contribution to clans, in the background, and support for me when I was a sometimes ;) abrasive Mod was always appreciated).

But, to my friends on the CD Team: Keep up the good work!

Any bets on how fast this post gets censored?

I'm not sure if you simply don't care or if you aren't aware of how many times other members of TeamCC and even other Department Leaders called for your removal from the team. Several times I backed you up. Several times I said that the work you do outweighs your abrasive personality and sometimes less than optimal attitude. I sent you a few messages informing you that your behavior had been called into question. I wasn't happy to have to remove you from the team, I knew we were losing a valuable asset to the team. I thank you for the work that you did for CC, and hope that the concerns with you may be resolved.

I worked alongside blakebowling for a long time. I know that he wouldn't have removed someone from staff without a very good reason and without thinking about it carefully, and it wouldn't be based on a petty grudge or just disliking your personality.

I dont know how much time or energy is required to maintain all of this, so I dont mean to be disrespectful in bringing it up. However, this isnt something I had to work around when Cheme was operating the show.

Also, I dont find my observations as issues, but things that normally I didnt have to work around.

1) The TOFU/MM war tab hasnt been updated correctly. It has been some time, but the entire batch of games from MM is still missing.
2) The TOFU/IA war tab hasnt been updated and there are now 3 completed games from over the last week.
3) Completed wars are not being updated as regularly.

Was the clan world spoiled when it came to Cheme's operations? Is this too much work? Are there more changes to the program that will make things easier? I dont know if any of these are what is causing some of the delays, but they are happening.

1. Has anyone posted the MM games where it's required?
2. Do you mean games aren't listed, or completed games aren't showing completed? One is manually done, one is automated. If it's games, they need to be posted in the thread. If it's not completed, that's different and we can look to see if there's a jam in the system for not completing the games.
3. Not sure what you mean by this, but most wars are finaled with medals issued 1-4 weeks after completed which is the same as it's always been.

I went back to look just to make sure, but I didnt see a rule or suggestion anywhere in the CC thread and made sure to check updated games in the main post of the CC war thread with MM. The games are listed correctly and I didnt see anything else as far as posting.

1.) Are the games supposed to be posted somewhere special? When you click on the clan tab at the top, select the TOFU/MM CCUP war, there are no home games listed for MM in round 3.
2.) The games arent listed at all. Click on the CL6 TOFU/IA war thread from the clan tab (1414 CL6) and you'll see the games are listed but there isnt any related outcomes for those games.
3.) Once again, in the TOFU war forum from the clan tab at the top, clicking on TOFU will take you to the list of wars. Once all the game of the war have been completed, it'll update and say who wins beside it. There are 2 wars that havent been updated to reflect that. They did end in the last week, so I dont know if it gets updated manually for that to happen.

For me, #3 is the least of my worries. I use situations of #1 and #2 all the time to analyze games and check on war progress. The games arent even listed in the MM thread, so I have to seek them another way.

TOFU/MM

MM set 3 games have NOT been posted by either clan in the Active War Game List. As soon as they are I will update the database.

TOFU/IA

My mistake, I hadn't added the players to the war, this prevents the scores being displayed. I've corrected this and it should update in a few minutes time.

Okay Keefie, thank you.

I am catching up on some of the duties as I am a fall back option when times are tough. Right now, I am taking more of an active role in the clan war organization of things and am trying to dot my i's and such. Thank you for being patient with me. There are so many rules and changes anymore since being an organizer with THOTA.

I will make sure the games get posted in that thread.

On a more general note, even if we do have to do without the services of our stalwart cheme, these are things at least that we can address.

First things first, for medals to be issued the thread must be marked and dated as final.
We usually wait until a few wars have built up before we issue medals, mostly because it's a complex enough process that it does require us to set aside a period of time (weekends etc) to issue them, and obviously it's easier to perform manually as a batch, which is why it takes the 1-4 weeks that Icepack mentioned.

Currently the latest war I see for which medals have not yet been assigned is mid to late november. It is festive season, so I'm sure you'll allow us some leeway in issuing the medals. If there are any other wars that you do think are taking months to issue, feel free to utilise the Ask a CDthread Keefie put up, and we can ensure that they are resolved timeously, even if it requires me to get my hands dirty :)

The same with Updating Clan Tab information, first ensure the games etc have been posted in the ACTIVE WAR GAME LISTS and then if one of the CD's haven't come by within a week or so (as again, it's manually inputted on the clan tab, so we perform batch-processing), or if players/scores haven't been updated you can utilise the Ask a CD thread to make us aware of the issue.

I dont think a lot of people (myself included) understand the processes. Thank you Leehar for describing some of that. Personally, I dont care when the clan medals get assigned, I figured it was a manual thing. But there are a few processes that I know I can become more familiar with to assist the processing of this data too. That is why I was asking about it.

It's too easy for this to become a bitching thread. I think more appreciation needs to go to those who are picking up in the absence of Cheme. But at the same time, those of us not in the loop can be more openminded about it too. Bitching about it isnt going to speed it up, and in my case, posting the games correctly will.

I think i made myself clear (at least in pms) that it wasn t about bitching about CDs. It was bitching about the admins (blakebowling in this case) for firing cheme.
It s almost impossible to find someone who would dedicate this amount of time to the clan world per week. Sure, he has a very abrasive posting personality, but who cares, i thought we could all deal with that and be grateful for the work he was doing. If his retribution was to be abrasive to clan members/mods, well i m totally fine with that. It just brought spice and discution.
