Russians or/and pro-Russian Ukraine people shot it. Russians even took the black boxes. It will take a loooong time before they are retrieved, and if they are, they might give them the copies. Hopefully not the beginning of the WW3.

Over a plane? Not at all likely. The likelihood of saxitoxin becoming a pro-Israeli Orthodox Jew is higher.dakky21 wrote:Russians or/and pro-Russian Ukraine people shot it. Again, this isn't a big deal.
The reason why some people kill civilians is to get attention, spread fear, and have governments overreact--just like 9/11 and the events that followed.
Re: Malaysia Airlines Flight 17
Why would someone fly a commercial airliner over an area where there is a military conflict going on? I am not a scholar, but I am a thinker, and it seems like a bad idea to me.
I have not read enough to know who did it either so I won't blame anyone.

There have been many commercial flights into many conflicts over the years. This is not new.ChrisPond wrote:Why would someone fly a commercial airliner over an area where there is a military conflict going on? I am not a scholar, but I am a thinker, and it seems like a bad idea to me.

Re: Malaysia Airlines Flight 17
Who approves a commercial airline flight over a suspected war zone? Even at 33,000 feet isn't there some thought about the potential hazard that precautions are taken? Was this flight path intentionally placing civilians at risk just to draw sympathy and attention to the violence in Eastern Ukraine?
Some news reports have 3 infants killed in their headline, as if the unnecessary deaths of 298 people was not tragic enough. One Pro-Russian group originally boasted it had shot down "a military aircraft" online, but removed it's claim once the reports came in that Malaysian Flight 17 had crashed in Eastern Ukraine.

My little bit of reading this evening mentioned that US flights were prohibited in this area...mostly because the airspace was claimed by 2 countries which could lead to issues. I also read the flight plan of this plane took it over Afghanistan. Doesn't sound like a good idea either, but I have not confirmed that was true or not.

I seem to recall that the Spanish-American War started off over a ship with a faulty boiler and America's involvement in WWI over a sunken passenger ship. Oh and Greece invaded Troy over a "kidnapped" woman. Nah. I don't think it will happen but I just wouldn't say the line "Over a plane?" like it couldn't.BigBallinStalin wrote:Over a plane? I wouldn't be so confident. According to Poe's law, we have to entertain the serious possibility that saxitoxin is a Zionist and plays an anti-Semitic Israel hater to expose the absurdity of that position.BigBallinStalin wrote:Over a plane? In the Chinese zodiac, it is bad luck when it is your year (e.g. dragons have bad luck in the year of the dragon). This year it is the year of the horse. In Chinese, Malaysian Airlines is called 马航. 马 also means horse.

Of that number, how many such events led to an interstate conflict?

Not saying it would lead to war, but if it's found that Russian made weapons caused this (used by Russians or pro-Russian rebels), this would turn into a political nightmare for Putin and company in Europe.BigBallinStalin wrote:Think of it this way: how many civilian turbojets have been successfully gunned down by portable rocket launchers?strike wolf wrote:I seem to recall that the Spanish-American War started off over a ship with a faulty boiler and America's involvement in WWI over a sunken passenger ship. Indeed... and in that war the number of civilian casualties is at least 10 times bigger then in Ukrainian civil war.nagerous wrote:Good day for Israel to deploy ground troops in Gaza.
BTW How did all those prowesters over here concluded that rebel rocket take out the plane? I guess from fabricated news stories from the western media. SAM used to take the plane out has Soviet origin. Ukraine has it, officially rebels dont have it.
P.S. According to Spanish flight controller who was guiding the plane Ukrainians informed the flight control that the plane was take out by rocket immediately after it disappear out of radar, which according to his words is way too fast.

Consider how many weapons and knowledge the US has sent to other militants, and think about the evil acts committed with such help.
Have US equivalents to "Putin and the company in Europe" experienced any political nightmares?
No, not really.
If anything 9/11 was a boondoggle for the politicians (not for millions of gullible, panicked Americans, of course).
[see: John Mueller's Overblown and Terror, Security, and Money]
The CIA's decades of training Latin American officers in dictatorships how to torture people didn't really affect the US. Hey, the CIA is still at it.
[see: A Question of Torture by Alfred McCoy]
Right now, millions of US-provided weapons are being used by Iraqis, Afghanis, Syrians, and Libyans for their ongoing civil wars. How many Americans really care? How many American politicians are affected by these atrocities?
Probably zero (which is why politicians will keep taking your money to spend on dangerous, stupid endeavors for whatever nonsensical reason they'll spew). I'd expect the same to happen to Putin and Co. Hell, if some of the victims on the flight were Russian, then they can play the 'we're all victims' card, or blame the Ukrainian government. There's many possibilities.

Yeah, some people kill leaders to get attention, so why would the assassination of one Duke start a war?BigBallinStalin wrote:Over a plane? Not at all likely. Not that I think this one event will trigger a world war, but the reactions show that our world political dynamics have altered dramatically.
