This matched show just why a game can be very close and still generate no excitement whatsoever. Even the shootout was not particularly interesting due to how it played out. The other semifinal was not close at all but a hundred thousand times more exciting. I hope Germany wins over Argentina but they might bore them to death and steal a win.oVo wrote:One hundred twenty minutes of almost goals?shootout

Lotsa drama compared to yesterday.
The offside call on Argentina's almost goal was muy close
and the Holland Keeper's save on the point blank header?
Oh shit!

I really hope argentina doesn t win, that would be so undeserved. Every single game with argentina has been a pain in the ass to watch.
And argentina much better defensively? Please! Not because argentina plays defensively means they are better at it. Germany has the best keeper in the world and some of the best defensive players like hummels and lahm. Sure, the team plays offensively, but if they want to keep a score you can t do shit. That s what they did to france, they scored very early in the game and then it was impossible to get anywhere near the cages because they basically played to keep the score. And when we did a few times, neuer was there with his strong and steady hand.
Germany received 2 goals vs ghana, well ok. Otherwise, 1 against algeria at the very last minute of the overtime when it was won, and one at the very last minute vs brazil while they were winning 7-0. It is extremely hard to score against them!

I've used both interchangeably, depending on who I'm talking to. I'll make sure to always call it soccer when talking to you. Get it through your thick head that it's called soccer in my country. They are a well trained machine of pros. But on behalf of Argentina, I wouldn't mind seeing them take it all since it is over on their side of the world, do they deserve it? Probably not as much as Germany does but hey, its the world cup, anything can happen.

Reportedly, two players refused to take the first penalty.JBlombier wrote:Is no one watching Argentina against The Netherlands?
We just fucked it up by putting Vlaar on the first penalty kick. That is not his job! Robben put it in, because it is his job! Van Gaal has made his first mistakes this WC with his substitutes. Too bad his mistake took away two potential parties in the next week,
You can't imagine the disappointment going through Holland right now, because we were able to send Messi home, but we let chance pass us. I'm sure Germany will win the World Cup. Congratulations in advance, neighbours...

Re: World Cup 2014
betiko, I meant to say Argentina will play better defensively than Brazil did.
Though, Argentina has defended pretty well throughout this tournament, and Romero is no slouch.
If Argentina wins on Sunday, I win $130 (though, if Germany wins, I'll get back the $10 I put in, so I won't be too upset).

Re: World Cup 2014
To be fair with Argentina, they played against defenses all the way.. and most of their games were played at noon which takes away a lot of potential fun and performance. It's not their fault that Switzerland played 118 minutes with two defense lines.. the same happened against Iran which is to be blamed for the shit show in all their games. Even Belgium didn't dare to attack until the final 15 minutes or so albeit Higuain's early goal.
I still believe Germany are stronger, but we shouldn't blame a semi-finalist for playing bad for a win. Holland themselves didn't deserve to be in the semis in the first place. I'm glad to see Robben the cheater out! If costa Rica were allowed to make it, which was deserved at least legally, Argentina would have finished em easily because they know how to handle a Latin team. That would have spared them a lot of efforts.
Germany got many advantages.. They only played 30 minutes not 120, and one day earlier! It may be a bit of a surprise if they lost, but who knows!

That's exactly what I was wondering when I saw Vlaar was going first. I didn't say anything because I don't know him and he might be excellent at penalty kicks. First penalty kick is always key. You have Robben, Sjneider, Huntelaar, Kuyt, why Vlaar?JBlombier wrote: We just fucked it up by putting Vlaar on the first penalty kick. That is not his job! Robben put it in, because it is his job!

The names of association football are the terms used to describe association football, the sport most commonly referred to in the English-speaking world as "football" or "soccer".
Looks correct to me.In the United States, where American football is the dominant code of the game, the word football is used to refer to that sport. Association football is most commonly referred to as soccer.
