Deadbeats in Doubles Games

Postby RookPawn on Wed Jun 25, 2014 1:30 pm

In a doubles game, when someone is kicked out for missing three turns his partner, at the very least, should not receive his spoils. In my opinion, he should receive nothing, but I can understand and accept that he inherits his partner's regions.

In particular, when playing an escalating game, the partner may receive a sudden, unexpected, and overwhelming advantage when he suddenly has 8 or 9 spoils to cash in on one turn. I understand the argument that the partner could unfairly lose, because he has no control over the fact that his partner deadbeated, and that he should get the regions. (In my opinion, this is a fallacy. If your partner deadbeats on you, that sucks, but he was your partner, and he let you down, and now you know not to team up with him next time. That's just the way it goes. But, fine; let him have the regions, if that's what most people think is fair.) But receiving the spoils has got to go.

I can give the example of this game: 14414662

This will improve doubles, escalating games in particular by allowing fewer unfair victories.

Regions or spoils, getting your partner's is ridiculous and unfair. Risk is a game of war. If one country is at war with another, and the leader decides to not participate in the battle, the troops don't stay and fight anyway. Deadbeating in a game should not be allowed to be used as a strategy. Simple as that.

Any intentional deadbeating is explicitly forbidden on Conquer Club and would be subject to punishment.

sucks when that happens seen it a lot on speed doubles. what makes it worse is the extra troops you now get because of the change to esc spoils. there you go another reason to change it back.

If your partner deadbeat, means he missed 3 turns, so he missed 3 spoils, plus the troops during 3 turns.
It is very rarely an advantage to have your partner deadbeat.

I never saw anyone deadbeating in purpose to have his partner winning the game, especially since it is almost never a good strategy.

Nevertheless, it sometimes happens that your partner deadbeating make you win the game, but it's rare. And it is only fair for the guy having is partner deadbeating to receive troops and spoils of his partner to let him have a chance.

If your partner deadbeats - he/she is kicked out. The armies and territories should become neutral. There should be a penalty when half a team quits - not a reward.

They also decide wars by rolling dice and waiting 24 hours for their opponent to go
