USER FINDER

Post by haoala »

Don't you think something called the "user finder" would be useful? You search somebody's username, and if it finds a direct match it goes straight to his profile. Otherwise, it will provide closest usernames.
Now when we want to see a certain username's profile (you only know the name of the user), you have to find a game with him which is pretty troublesome.

Priority: I'd give it a 3.

I know this isn't an ideal situation...

But you can use the game finder to find them (Just enter their name don't check anything else to refine the search) - then click on their profile from there...

It's not too bad - but I agree it's not as easy as it could be...

The scoreboard works, though you have to type in the exact username. Otherwise, no results are returned. I would prefer if they would give close usernames. Also, new recruits are not listed until they give their first name. Another disadvantage is that the scoreboard doesn't link directly to the profile, which I am seeking

You don't have to type in the exact username on the scoreboard. However, I think a username finder would be helpful when they aren't on the scoreboard.

A user finder is a good idea.

@yeti: doesn't work if they actually don't have any games (otherwise youcould use the same method for feedback), as I was once looking for a mate of mine who'd joined the site to set up some games with him.

you could tie this in with a 'members list' of such where all the people on the site are mentioned. also be nice to tie this in with a Mod list and clan leader list so you can get in contact with people easily when you want a question?

great suggestion lancey
yep i alway wanted an easy way of telling who was in the mod and clans blah blah

this could blend in nicely with the scoreboard too and could be sort of a "search engine" style

just realised how pointless this thread is in a way. Heres a link to the member list.

http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/memberlist.php

Select sort method => username will give you an idea of it alphabetically. Flick through pages till you find what you want.

If we could incorporate a search facility into that it would be good.

Profile Finder

Post by Rocketry »

Concise description:
  • Curently we have 'Game Finder' under the GAme Menu. Could we also have Proile Finder? Click and it takes you to a search page where you can search by username, rank etc and find peoples profiles.
This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • Just makes it easier to find out stuf about people. Currently if I want to know what rank lack is I have to do a Game Finder search, find a game with lack in and then link to the profile that way. I know we have scoreboard but thats just not the same.

MemberList doesnt have the option to search by rank, points, no. of games played etc. It's just a list of members...
