DKs CSFR series 03 - Prešov [Finals]

Postby Dukasaur on Tue May 20, 2014 3:40 pm

To the finalists:
I've renewed ShingleBeaver's invites into the next round of games. However, ShingleBeaver has not been on CC since May 14th, so he may be lost to us.

We could:
  • ...wait a few more days and keep renewing SB's invites. However, my experience as a tournament organiser is that when someone vanishes like that without saying anything, they could be gone for months or forever. If he had posted in the thread that he's going on vacation or something, that would be different, but without any word we can only assume that he's gone.
  • ...just eliminate SB and re-create the remaining games as 4-player games. It kind of screws up the 5-player dynamic that we've gone with until now.
  • ...invite dgz345 into the remaining games. Dgz345 was only 1 point away from qualifying for the finals. He definitely deserves a chance to be here, although he will be at a distinct disadvantage having missed 3 games already. Still, it might be be the fairest solution possible.

I'll wait a day or two and see if you guys have strong feelings about which of these solutions to choose. If nobody has any strong arguments to make, I'll make the decision.

Without a doubt, it is the fairest.

I totally agree that it is necessary to maintain the five player dynamic. To do this you would have to invite a neutral player and ask that he give up his time for nothing on a map he may not know, etc, etc.......or we can ask a decent player, established in this tourney, to help us finish this thing and in return let him play for what we are playing for.......ABSOLUTELY! If he weren't so close to us in the standings then I don't think the replacement should get to play for all the marbles, but dgz345 rejoining this tourney (if he would be kind enough to help us) makes perfect sense. I'm sure you have considered the rules for dgz345 to qualify for a medal. He certainly should, after playing the first rounds.

What i really need, is an idea that requires us to scrap the first three games of the finals and start over. That gets my vote x a million

Thank you all for your many PMs. There seems to be a consensus.

  • Nobody wants to go to 4-player games.
  • One person suggested waiting longer, but other than that everyone agrees with inviting dgz.
  • It is agreed that dgz will start with the same number of points as the lowest player in batch 1.

I just checked SB's profile, and he hasn't returned. Invites sent to dgz. I hope he still wants to play! :o

Two games in the first batch have ended, and the third looks like it's close, so I went ahead and sent the third batch.

Good luck, everyone!

I'll do an interim score if I get a chance. It's a pretty busy week for me.

Got it done tonight or this morning, or whatever you want to call this time before sunrise...:)

Added a second sheet to the main scoring spreadsheet. Let me know if you have trouble seeing it. Data from the first batch of Finals games has been inputted.
