Re: New NHL season
Whoops, my bad. That's actually the regular season price - seats are in the second row of the 200s.
Sorry, AoG, but the tickets are not mine to sell. When I say she won't let me go, I mean she'll find a friend of hers to go with her.

Re: New NHL season
Another one bites the dust, and another correct guess for me. The series I'm most likely to get wrong is Sharks-Kings, as I have Kings as the winner, but the rest looks good.

Re: New NHL season
I was thinking, if the Sharks blow the series and lose to the Kings, its official that they will never win a cup with Thornton/Marleau and them

Re: New NHL season
This is so true. I find it even better going in with no loyalties - as I watch more games I find myself cheering for the teams I am enjoying watching the most.Serbia wrote:Playoff hockey is so awesome.
The Avalanche are exciting to watch. They're my early favourites just because of the speed and emotion they bring.
I am also cheering for the Blue Jackets, the Flyers, and the Stars. Most of the other series I don't care who wins, but have especially enjoyed watching the Blackhawks/Blues series.
It's also really easy to notice who the commentators are cheering for when you go in with no bias. CBC obviously loves the Habs, and are definitely pulling for the Penguins and Bruins. Ray Ferraro was almost insufferable last night with his bias towards the Wild.

Re: New NHL season
Speaking to that, I've really enjoyed the non-Red Wings games that Ken Daniels has called. He's really neutral calling other games, and I appreciate that. I also think he's great at play-by-play.denominator wrote:This is so true. The Sharks have always been a fun watch for me. Also their home games are great because they're the only pro team in San Jose so the fans go crazy.denominator wrote:This is so true. Re: New NHL season
Ducks just came back from a two-goal deficit in the final 2 and a half minutes to win in OT and advance. Without a doubt some of the best hockey I've seen just about ever.

That's just because you're new to hockey, you weren't a fan back in the early 20's when Lackton Fishers beat the Edmonton Canadiens with 6-5 in the Queen Elizabeth's Cup finals, it was a heck of a game I'll tell you, all five in attendance was on their feet at the end. Pff, you youngsters know nothing of the great games of the past.pancakemix wrote:Ducks just came back from a two-goal deficit in the final 2 and a half minutes to win in OT and advance. Four out of four so far. Let's just hope Kings can turn their series around, the rest looks good.

The Stars just quit playing with about 10 minutes left in the 3rd. It was a collapse of Leafs proportions.pancakemix wrote:Ducks just came back from a two-goal deficit in the final 2 and a half minutes to win in OT and advance. Without a doubt some of the best hockey I've seen just about ever.
Blue Jackets came out playing their game again, physical, but it seems like the offensive prowess of the Penguins is finally rolling over them.

Re: New NHL season
You better pray the Pens can get their shit together before they face the Rangers (or Flyers).
L.A. Kings force Game 7. Wow. Seems the Sharks are tired of their standard choke job, and wanted to make this year's version a little more epic.
Bollocks.

Malkin picked a good time to do wake up. I'm 5 out of 5 so far, I usually don't do well when predicting the playoffs but this year things look better.

Re: New NHL season
Holy hell, Steve Mason came to play tonight. Sure, Simmonds has played well but even at 4-0 Mason is stealing this game. If he plays half this well tomorrow night, the Flyers will win the series.
I'm very glad I'm not a Penguins or Sharks fan. They are stacked full of talented players but simply don't have the compete level of other teams. Look at how Doughty and Williams and Kopitar played last night while Thornton and Burns and Marleau were completely lackluster with no emotion. It's the same with the Penguins - Crosby and Neal and Letang look bored out there (Malkin did as well until last night).

Also, Wild come back and win. Didn't think that would happen and I bet they screwed up a bunch of brackets.
Also also, holy shit, just saw and the Kings are up 3-1 on the Sharks. Might be an all-time collapse there.

I got 7/8 of my predictions right, damn Avalanche, couldn't get their shit together. Nice to see my prediction that Sharks would choke once again come true, they had us fooled for a moment there, almost looked like they wouldn't choke heh.
Next round prediction:
Boston-Montreal
Winner Montreal
Pittsburgh-NY Rangers
Winner Pittsburgh
Chicago-Minnesota
Winner Chicago
Anaheim-Los Angeles

Re: New NHL season
Despite Colorado blowing it against Minnesota, all of my 2nd Round predictions can still hold true:
Boston vs. Montreal: Canadiens advance
Pittsburgh vs. New York: Rangers advance
Chicago vs. Minnesota: Blackhawks advance
Anaheim vs. Los Angeles: Ducks advance
Bollocks.

Re: New NHL season
Also, I was at the Garden last night. The refs missed so many blatant penalties on Philly, it was unbelievable. The Rangers should have had 6 power plays, not just 1.
In other news, that's the last cheap, dirty hockey we'll see until October.
Bye, bye, Philly - ain't no one gonna miss ya.
