I see the scoreboard is still divided into groups, and I'm not sure if this was answered last round: Do the top players in each group + some wildcards advance? Or is it the top players by score? If the latter, then the scoreboard isn't very useful for seeing whether you're going to advance.

Round 2 Elimination: Top 9 from each group will advance along with the next best 10 players. Bottom 32 will be eliminated.

It was wrotten that score resets so I guess past round results are important only im case of tie breaker. Althougt, I would personally prefer if scores are cummulative from the beginning rather than resetted for every round.

I believe that each round is seeded by total tournament wins.

I kind of agree josko, it is scary to have no safety net, one bad round and you are done....but....the game load is getting heavy now. Next round is 31 games. I think you can overcome some bad luck over the course of 31 games.

I think it balances out nicely as it is. Takes away more of the unfair elements while the number of games should allow skill to win out over bad luck.

So for example, in other auto-tournaments, I've seen people get paired up against players who have quit or are inactive and a player will get 5 free wins without even playing that he/she then has that no one else can match since the deadbeat/inactive gets eliminated. That same thing can't happen here. For instance, in group B, there were two players who seem to have quit before the round started, so the other 14 people in the group got 2 free wins. This didn't help against each other since we all got the same bonus, but for those of us who advance to the next round, we would have 2 free wins over the players who were in other groups if the scores were cumulative.

yes, very true. I was a little worried in my group. I knew the cutoff line would be crowded and wasn't quite sure where it would be and where I would be but it was too close. Even though we didnt have any quitters in our group, we did have one guy who missed 2 turns last weekend in all games. The game I had with him was over by round 3..the missed turns didnt help me catch up because it was already hopeless. But it did benefit a few players, who were able to turn their games that probably would have been loses. The only reason I noticed was because I was tracking certain players games who I thought I might be tied with. So I thought that was unfortunate for me in particular, but it didnt end up making a huge difference in the end (atleast not to me). That stuff happens.
But to what josko was saying, the people that look to advance, mostly have higher win totals anyway. There might be a few cases, but only a small handful, who have high win totals and are in danger. But I bet most of them are in the group of 10 that will also survive.

Yeah, I agree. It limits the element of luck. There's still a slight element of luck in getting into a group with 1 or more deadbeats because that's just one less person from the group that you have to place ahead of. But it's better than a completely random draw where some people would get a couple free games, and that would be the deciding factor on them moving on.

I disagree because of this:

Later on, 2 "free" games are negligible because it would be 2 games out of 60 total games (after round 3) or out of 90 total games (after round 4) so the luck that someone got lucky to have deadbeat in his games could be overcame by other skilled players.

However, the effect of 2 "free" games will be visible right now exactly because of the fact that games are not cumulative. In this round, 9 the best players from each group advances, together with 10 next the best placed players. So, whoever got 2 "free" wins out of 15 total games, he got huge advantage over players from other group who did not get free wins.

If for example scores are cumulative, then this injustice would be lower, because 2 "free" games out of 29 total games have much lower wight than 2 "free" games out of total 15 games. For example, group B which had the most "free" wins will have 10th 11st and 12nd player with 8 wins, while no other group will have any player placed 10th or lower with 8 wins. 10th player from group C for example will have only 6 wins. So THAT is injustice, and that could be solved or at least minimized if scores are counted cumulative.

Why in random order? The OP states round 3 is seeded by wins:
chapcrap wrote:Round 3: 64 Players, 2 Groups of 32, Seeded by Wins
Round 3 Elimination: Top 14 from each group will advance along with the next best 4 players. Bottom 32 will be eliminated.

And yet can't make anyone happy ;) Sorry missed that as I was more worried about getting tiebreakers done correctly.

Please double check this, I think you did it wrong.

When it is seeded draw, then groups should be filled on this way:

Group 1: Seed 1,4,5,8,9,12,13,16...
Group 2: Seed 2,3,6,7,10,11,14,15...

Purpose of seeding system is having both groups equally hard, in this example, both groups have weight of their players equal.

What you did is filling groups like this:
Group 1: Seed 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8...
Group 2: Seed 32,33,34,35,36,37,38,39...

So with your system, the ones who were playing great and achieved great results, are now "punished" by having all the best players together with them in the group. On contrary, purpose of seeding system is to "award" players who did great in past rounds to play versus opponents who did worse in past rounds.

Bigragooch, general cod, rick1063, itake, lawz21, EBConquer,t4mcr53s2, Jackofalltrades, swimmerdude99, zips5000 are all in the same group, yet they have the best score so far in the tournament. This is NOT seeded draw.

Thanks. This now looks like seeded system, by brief looking at placement of several top players.
However, I see that on the tournament page groups are still listed as they have been in previous update: http://www.conquerclub.com/player.php?m ... ent_id=312

I am not sure when games will go out, but it would be better to check if new groups are updated to the system before the system sends games out.

Round 3 Part 1/2: 64 Start, Score Resets, Round Robin, 64 Move On, Games: 2 Players, Standard, Escalating, Random Map
Round 3 Part 2/2: 64 Start, Round Robin, 32 Move On, Games: 2 Players, Standard, Escalating, Random Map

Set up is written like this, so I hope Parts 1/2 and 2/2 will be sent out separately, otherwise there is no sense to name them in two parts.

Yes this is so everyone doesnt get 31 games at once but will break it up into two sets... Unless everyone wants all of them at once lol. :)

No please do not send 31 games at once. Any chance going forward for the rest of the round(s) we can get notification ahead of time as to a date and time when games will be sent out. That way those of us that want to get snaps can try to arrange accordingly?
