We should all have the right to equal opportunity. We should not, however, have a right to equal results.BigBallinStalin wrote:Fine! The Off Topic forum has been taken over by a band of derailers that would rather see a stupid thread continue for 6 years of bananas, than a serious discussion. I see many players have given up on CC because of the Off Topic derailers. Some players enjoyed mentally stimulating discussions in OT, but with overwhelming childish derailing, its now a forum of tumbleweeds with the same band of derailers stifling dialogue.Dukasaur wrote: The lag problems have hurt us badly. I hope they're easing off. At least it seems the game lag is fixed, but the forums continue to be bad. Things were improving very nicely for so long, too, and then the troubles came...
Part of the problem with OT is that people would get in heated arguments and get each other banned. Many of the banned just stopped coming back after a while (Woodruff, pimpdave, etc.)universalchiro wrote:

Nobody cares about OT anymore. It does not reflect real life! The overly heavy moderation, the PC brigade talking rubbish and the moderator's choose who to punish, mainly leaving the group reponsible for the death of OT to carry on without any punishment.DoomYoshi wrote:Part of the problem with OT is that people would get in heated arguments and get each other banned. I'd say it's critical now!! The lag will get worse as more ads are added to cover the falling membership, the gameplay is now on the verge of moving completely away from the original format of this site.Mr Changsha wrote:It does seem to have a stabilized around 12300-12400.
I do have two questions for you expert 'scoreboard-worriers' though...
1. At what level would you consider the number to be so low that a CC-addict like me should start to worry?
2. At what level would you consider the number to be high enough to pronounce the site healthy?
Please elaborate, I take it you disagree with me? Then again you never seen this site when it was good and had over 25,000 on the scoreboard. You came after the damage was done.iAmCaffeine wrote:Is she for real?^
If all you care about is finding someone to play a game with (not caring about playing specific settings or maps) I guess a couple of hundred users would be enough.Mr Changsha wrote:It does seem to have a stabilized around 12300-12400.

How do you actually know this to be true?linda wrote: And the idiots incharge sit scratching their heads wondering why membership won't rise. The basic answer is - They killed the forum and they've tampered with the game too much.
I don't!! Although I'd say it's true. If I had a buisness that was flagging and slowly going under then I'd certainly sit down and wonder why and what I could do to stop the rot.Metsfanmax wrote:How do you actually know this to be true?linda wrote: And the idiots incharge sit scratching their heads wondering why membership won't rise. Dice will always be a complaint I think. In regards to the forum -- I suspect this is more a Golden Age Syndrome -- looking back at earlier years with fond eyes.linda wrote:
CC had a reputation for an interesting, funny and open forum years ago. Now a whole day can pass without a single post in general discussion. Nobody has stood up and took the blame for this and reversed an extremely bad decision. Nothing will be done on either count I can guarantee that. Maybe CC can survive with 9,000 core members?
Also, I don't think the dice here resemble anything like reality.
You're still peddling this nonsense?universalchiro wrote:The Off Topic forum has been taken over by a band of derailers that would rather see a stupid thread continue for 6 years of bananas, than a serious discussion. I hope you realize that none of what you posted in the quoted block is true.linda wrote:Nobody cares about OT anymore. It does not reflect real life! hmmm... maybe that is because it felt like more of an actual "community" back then... who knows... but yes, the eyes are fond for many of the people that were around back then... i am optimistic, things seem to be TRYING to head in that direction again... the black jesus has spoken...-el Jesus negroAndyDufresne wrote:I suspect this is more a Golden Age Syndrome -- looking back at earlier years with fond eyes.

Linda makes some valid points. I agree whole heartedly about the lag. When I can be viewing 3 youtube channels at once without issue, but can't take a turn with out timing out. There is an issue.

What if, in a theoretical society, everyone could be guaranteed happiness. Would you still be against equal results if the equal results was that everyone was happy?loutil wrote:We should all have the right to equal opportunity. decaf, decaf, decaf asking questions and saying nothing will not earn you the respect you so desperately crave. Let us assume that Linda is joking, could she be using humour to sugar coat a message or observation that is unpalatable to the recently arrived people who never knew the site when it was busy.decaf dope wrote:I'll disregard the multi shit, we've been through that before. Isn't that question pointless and useless? It uses an impractical assumption. The focus should be on the process because if the results are changed but the process is not, then you'll get results which deviate from the planned results.Gillipig wrote:What if, in a theoretical society, everyone could be guaranteed happiness.
