Re: GOP Presidential Nominess
No one asked me, but I'm telling you anyway.
If I were voting, and if the election were held tomorrow - and if I had no choice except between the GOP and the Democratic Party - my first choice would be Brian Schweitzer. If the Democrats give the nomination to Elvira, as they probably will, then my second choice would be (with great apprehension) Jon Huntsman (is he running again?), though far too Atlanticist [and Mormon] in outlook for my taste. If neither Schweitzer nor Huntsman were options, I would probably abstain from the presidential line on the ballot.
I didn't recognize a lot of the names on Scott's list (e.g. Ben Carson) and had to Wikipedia them.
Who are your FAVs, Scott?

I'm quite serious. In general, I support the Republican presidential candidate that is most likely to lose.saxitoxin wrote:reported for trollingMetsfanmax wrote:I support Herman Cain.

Susana Martinez is a awesome, but that makes me conflicted, since if she's president that means we might get another Bill Richardson for governor...

I went with Huntsman and Paul, but I admittedly do not know much about the other candidates from a policy perspective. Have any or all of them announced they are running?

They told Phatscotty that they were. They immediately left the room as soon as he began talking fiscal policy though. They usually mumbled something about a previous appointment and all that.

Re: GOP Presidential Nominess
Ben Carson is towards the top of my list. He's a man of science, he has the balls to confront Obama, and he's the antithesis of political correctness. I know who my top pick is, but still thinking about the #2 and #3. I'll vote soon.saxitoxin wrote:No one asked me, but I'm telling you anyway.

I like Carson linking Obama to Nazis, and linking gays to pedophiles.

I don't think even Hillary Clinton has announced yet. It's pretty early still, just wondering who people like 'so far' from a list of likely candidates/people rumored to be exploring a run.

I don't know a lot about most of the names on this list. Some of them I've eliminated purely for personality traits. Nikki Haley, for instance, I know nothing about other than she "converted" from Sikhism to the Methodist Church just before running for the S.C. General Assembly. That indicates to me she is driven by a raw lust for power so I would be unlikely to vote for her even if she were otherwise perfect. I have similar issues about Jindal's conversion from Hinduism, though the timeline of his conversion juxtaposed against his electoral runs isn't quite as questionable as Haley's.

Obama won't be running, so why should that matter?Phatscotty wrote:Ben Carson is towards the top of my list... he has the balls to confront Obama
I went with Jeb (can never have too many Bushes!), Rubio and Jindal (minority ftw?) as my picks. Other than that, way too soon for me to be making selections.
Bollocks.

I picked Bobby Orr, Babe Ruth, and Jimmy Hoffa. For much the same reasons.Serbia wrote:Obama won't be running, so why should that matter?Phatscotty wrote:Ben Carson is towards the top of my list... he has the balls to confront Obama

Re: GOP Presidential Nominess
Because it takes balls to confront Obama, to his face (the video is a couple years old). To do that you need to be prepared to be audited every year for the next 6 years (check). The IRS scandal is just the start. And you have to be ready to lose millions spent protecting yourself and defending your rights, you need to accept that your gonna start getting death threats (check). Most people are scared to criticize any president to their face, but Obama has taken hurt feelings payback to a whole new level with constantly growing new executive powers to back it up.Serbia wrote:Obama won't be running, so why should that matter?Phatscotty wrote:Ben Carson is towards the top of my list... he has the balls to confront Obama
In other words, Carson has strong convictions and a set of values and principles and he says what he believes and isn't tainted with DC stain. I like that, might have to give him a vote

Probably. She does say that we should stop giving driver's licences to aliens. I think it has something to do with that big crash in Roswell.saxitoxin wrote:I'll czech her out!
