I was not trying to be considerate as he wanted to keep on playing. Not sure why it matters to so many that I liked to play with my friends even when they were not very good. We had a blast playing team games. Read some of our chat logs and you will see how much fun it created in the office...

I mean, some of your responses are great... seriously... had me cracking up... as long as ur not obsessive ab something and vice versa, there should be no issue.. if ur woman has that much of an issue with things that you find fun or interesting? LOL...that is wrong on so many levels. My other half does not care one bit. She is always happy for anything that makes me happy . I also own my company so I log on during the work day whenever I want. I have even got a few of my employees playing.

As a business owner that's a pretty brave move, given this site is such a time killer. Kinda reminds me of the joke "How do you create a million dollar company?" Give your son one worth 5 million."

My wife can't stand this site though she has finally given up pestering me about it. I guess that's in part due to the fact I never pester her when she's on her laptop or has commandeered the cable box to watch Japanese TV, plus it's not as if I have some pressing job to attend to in the house (and no, I don't mean the ironing).

I do feel sorry for one of my CC friends though, coz when he visited Hong Kong to stay with me we had to concoct some cock and bull story about him being a business partner of my nephew rather than being someone I met on CC. My wife wouldn't have allowed him through the front door had she known, such is her disdain for this site.

I do manage how much time they can spend on the game. When we had active inter office games going I would allow them to take few moves a day in our games. Now that we do not play them any more they can make moves during lunch or when they are on a break. It actually helps moral and we are doing quite well ...

The saddest thing for me about the CC\Woman paradigm is when one achieves something of value here (win a series, win a clan war, achieve a new rank etc) and the only person about to share it with is the long-suffering girlfriend. One is somehow compelled to tell them of the success.. however the look of barely hidden disdain, the aren't you such a clever little man! voice inflection or, surely even worse, the feigned interest swiftly and cruelly forgotten always leaves me at least wishing I'd kept my achievement to myself.

Most recently this happened over the China Scoreboard. Having spent years topping it without effort (as it isn't the most competitive of them) I suddenly and strangely found myself in the no.2 position. I made the mistake of pointing this out to my girlfriend. "Hey, no.2 in China!" she would greet me on a daily basis. I've got to be honest with you that it hurt just a little bit. Nonetheless, I was inspired to get my game in shape again and after a couple of months I got back to No.1 (which I honestly consider mine by right) and, I admit this here, I proudly said to my good lady "Look! I'm number 1 in China again" and again there was that look of utter disdain for me as a man before getting on with something really important like shopping online for boots.

Yet WE know that bumping one's score up by a few hundred points is of great import, as is no doubt winning a tournament or, can you imagine it, the clan league. Yet to our womenfolk such things are like beating little Jimmy from school at marbles 2-0.

CC is an unreal existence and it is best left in its virtual environment. In my experience people who don't play CC (and frankly we have to admit that is most people) have absolutely 0% interest in it and that includes our girlfriends and wives and yes, as shannonapple has rudely added girl players into the equation, boyfriends and husbands. Though it is a bit sad to think that one could become the conqueror on this site and one's girlfriend would consider it the equivalent of owning a hundreder at conkers.

My CC Widow wondered a little while ago about us relocating to Hong Kong.
