Yes, Gilligan, but no extra framing...i'm about half-way through the redraw process....and yes there are some shifts in some things for better space allocation.

OK, this is the unfinished re-work fo the regions etc...
I just want to know if everyone is OK with the colours....some did not translate well from FW3 to PS5.

Any CB issues for anyone?

Thanks Gilligan...and then you have to process it through the xml Wizard to get it to take it's indentations

That's OK, I understand the cutting of text <elements> to reduce xml file size...but just seems a retard backward step for me. :?

Hm, yeah, I agree. If they were there...I would think they should still be, but someone removed them.

If you have Notepad++ Everything should be arranged properly. Though if I'm right you would be missing the <utf 8>tag at the top of the file, but that is easy enough to put back in. Notepad++ is a free download.

cairns, you know I love you, but I prefer this image:

The new one looks too shiny. Colours are good though.

PS. you're missing the U01-A05 impassable.

Gee thanks MB
Yes no doubt some will have preferences...

The new one looks too shiny. Colours are good though.

Yes on the old map, there wasn't enough distinction between D'erlon and Lobau for CB :o
plus there was a call to lighten the farm areas so that troop icons for bombardment could be more easily identified....i hope that is achieved!
and the old textures from FW3 don't translate as well into PS5...
some excuses i know...but I think it a lot more clear and visible...

PS. you're missing the U01-A05 impassable.

Fixed now on my computer for next upload. Thanks :)

I like the horses from the first one better. In the new one they kind of look like hunchbacks.

I think it'll look cool if you tone down the bevel a little.

I really like the sharpness you have going, but I think I kind of agree with ManB here, the tone might be a tad too bright for this map. If it's easy to do, I'd like to see a comparison... :)

I think it's okay. The farm houses which can be bombarded have a red infantry peg in them, and the part of the legend about artillery explains that blue artillery can bombard red infantry on the same side of the road.

Hey MB, thank you for pointing that out. I seriously spent about 5 to 10 minutes looking at this map before I posted trying to find some indication and I completely missed that. I'm glad to see that it is addressed on the map.

The big HOWEVER to that is that I still managed to miss that after who knows how many times playing the map and the further effort that I put in trying (and failing) to ensure that I wouldn't post something stupid in this thread. I'd say that overall, this would downgrade my issue from something that should be resolved to something that could be resolved.

Unlike some other maps that I've seen, I'm not sure that there is a very clear method of resolution. Now that you've pointed out to me what I didn't see before, I think that the current method map resolves the issue in one of the most obvious ways possible. If I was here from the beginning, I might have suggested that the infantry symbol be placed over the yellow portion of the farms (and the territ circles moved slightly to accommodate this), but at this point that may be more effort than it's worth. Maybe the infantry symbols could be given a slight outline or shadow to enhance the contrast between that and the underlying squares, but this still requires some work and most likely requires that the original layered file is still in existence (and ofc that cairns agrees and is willing to do it).

Another option is to add text to the key, but the key is already fairly text heavy, so I can see why that wouldn't really be an option. Furthermore, what more would you add? For me, the obvious text to add would be something like "farmhouses can only be bombarded if they house enemy infantry", but where would that go? It's a lot of text to throw on the map.

So, cairns, if you like any of these ideas, feel free to use them, but I understand why you'd want to leave it as is. Thanks again to MB for pointing out that detail that I completely missed.

What it would be nice to know is if this effort is going to satisfy agentcom?

I'm back! Sorry for the delay. I agree with ManB and others about toning down the bevel. Your last one where you did that is the best looking of the newest versions. I also agree with chap about the horses. That was one of the first things I noticed about the newest generation of map.

Now onto what you're more likely asking about. I think that the newest versions are definitely a step forward in being able to see the infantry icons. I'd be happy with the latest version, as far as that goes.

Two things on that latest version (the bottom one in your last post): First, Is the red in the infantry, cavalry and artillery the same red? I can't tell if it's just due to the contrast, but: (1) the cavalry icon looks the "reddest" perhaps because of the black of the outline makes up a bigger portion of the "total" icon; (2) the cavalry icon looks slightly "less red" perhaps due to the fact that the outline only goes around the perimeter of the icon; and (3) the infantry icons look the "least red" and still somewhat "blend into" the image behind them perhaps because they have no outline. To me, this is only an issue with the red icons. Maybe the blue infantry could use a black outline, but the colors in the cavalry and artillery appear more consistent to me.

Second, are you going to re-add the texture that you had on the old map now that you've changed the colors a bit? I think this is a bit too "crisp" for me. I think that could mute the birghtness of the colors a bit without actually changing the colors and bringing back whatever CB/contrast issues you may have been trying to fix.

Oh and one final thing: I notice that you're maybe not happy with the "Territory Naming" wording. Could I suggest "Territory Descriptions"
