josko, random21 [Cleared] DCR

Postby RobertM320 on Fri Nov 15, 2013 8:12 am

I didn't realize you could get others to play for you to keep from losing a game. Yes, I see they told us, but that doesn't make it right. This is from the gamechat. As you can see, two other people played for Foxglove over at least a 3 1/2 day period.

2013-11-07 10:39:35 - Foxglove: josko this turn foxy is absent
2013-11-09 00:28:58 - Foxglove: random21 for fox, she is on vacation
2013-11-10 22:34:51 - Foxglove: random again

Accused:

Foxglove
random21
josko

The accused are suspected of:

Playing for other players

Game number(s):

Game 13520684

Account sitting is within the rules, you'll have to check for any nuances and specifics that may concern you.

Also, funny :P

It's generally allowed to account sit as long as it's declared as far as I know. It only gets dodgy if you're sitting an account that you're supposed to be playing against. As the other players taking her turns were not involved in the game/part of the same team, and the game was sequential/24hr, I see little to object to, let alone complain about.

Innocent mistake? Or is a multi check needed on the op? Seem to remember a few bitter folks no longer on site/or taking a break, who were convinced josko took each and every kort turn for every player. Could this be a returning player stirring an old pot?

haha, what? I don't even.

I was on vacation and I arranged for account sitters to take my turns in my active games.

P.S. You're terrible, and you were never going to win that game - probably not even if I missed all of my turns while I was gone.

P.P.S. Welcome to the forums via your inaugural post!

P.P.P.S. Your 7 points were delicious.

Pending? Is that a joke? Why is this not "Cleared, Ridiculous"?

Maybe DCR has found an abnormality, this is maybe why it's pending. Looking at the OP I presume...

well , i think that its not allowed when player are in vacation, and sitter join a game instead player.

So if foxglove was on vacation, and sitter join a game ,then this could be brake of rules?

if this not a case,, then i dont see nothing wrong here.

humorous.

i like how you open with "I didn't realize you could get others to play for you to keep from losing a game."

because in fact, you can do just that. if someone is unable to get online and play, they are allowed to give other players chance to take their turns by providing pw

as already pointed out, and you have nothing to contradict it, this game was 100% won. so i don't see what difference it makes to you. we posted to let you know it wasn't fox, and i didn't wait until 2 hrs just because it didn't make a difference, she was on vacation.

there are no abnormalities. josko does not sit for all of us, this is a joke. and i do not abuse sitting.

i am confident dcr will clear this

i think they call what dcr is doing a formality

don't know what you mean qwert. the game was already in play. the game was over. we didn't 'join' anything it was half way into the game, and the game was won

as for something not to be allowed while someone is on vacation thats ridiculous. what else could having a sitter be for, if not to sit when the person is away on vacation

No, the sitter didn't join the game instead of the player. The game was started when Foxy was still around, and she joined it herself.

I guess no-one saw my post..I think DCR is actually looking at the original poster. Of course it has to be checked.

So yes it could be just formalities taking place, agreed.

Agent is correct. Usually, even if it is clear cut, I will put Pending and then take a moment to make sure nothing is amiss.

Nothing is, though. The OP is clean, much I am sure to BGs chagrin, and as far as account sitting goes, this is completely above board. They have only logged in when they said they would, and announced it in game chat. This is all good from our point of view, if a player cannot take their turns they are most definitely allowed to ask another player to take their turns in any ongoing games. A sitter may not post in the forums, start a new game, or join new games unless absolutely needed, but may indeed play a turn as long as it is announced in chat as to who is replacing the player for each turn. Also, in many cases of an extended vacations, it is even acceptable to say "X for Y until further notice" as long as the original player announces his or her return.

I would also like to point out that this is not a spurious report, even if the gamechat was a bit childish from the OPs part. The player has every right to request us to check any players he or she finds suspicious. The majority of our cases end up being cleared. In fact, this one is Cleared as well.

Sorry, I wasn't aware of the sitting rule. And I also didn't mean to infer that we would have won the game otherwise. But from what I'm seeing, the person sitting isn't supposed to be someone who's already in the game, meaning random21. All this happened after the game was underway, so I don't understand the questions about who forced me to play.

Again, I wasn't aware you could have someone sub for you, but is it right for it to be someone else playing in the same game? If you notice, I've played less than 200 games, so I'm not familiar with all the little rules.

If the player are in the same team than you, then it is ok they cover for you.
But if you are playing multiplayer game, you cannot ask one of your opponent to sit for you.

From FAQ (reached via "help" top right of screen - should really be more prominent in "Rules" and/ or The Game")

19. Can I let another player take a turn for me when I am away from the game?

Players are allowed to account-sit for others as long as they are not opponents within the game. It is common courtesy to announce in game chat that another player will take your turn(s) during your absence. Babysitters should only do what is necessary to take the turn(s) and should not interact with the community, start or join new games (except for ongoing tournaments). Furthermore, you should only take another player's turn if they are in danger of missing a turn, not for the purpose of gaining a tactical advantage.

There is a much larger set of rules for Clan play viewtopic.php?f=438&t=184910

It's definitely preferred by most of those involved that a team mate sits if possible due to familiarity with the position and current game strategy.
