The 32 football/soccer teams that will compete in the 2013/2014 European Champions League 2013/2014 are already known, and this year I will host the Doubles tournament featuring those teams!
Besides the usual tournament medal for the winners, this competition will award a
General Achievement Medal! See details below.
Before stating the rules I would like to dedicate this tournament to
Deco, a Portuguese-Brazilian football player that retired recently. He spread its magic in the fields of Europe in clubs like FC Porto, Barcelona and Chelsea. I like to thank specially his 5 years of dedication, commitment and passion to FC Porto, for the UEFA Cup and the Champions League that he helped greatly to win. And I would like also to thank personally for his inspiration, for he is one of the reasons I like soccer so much and love my team, FC Porto, like I do!

Tournament StructureGroup StageThe 32 teams are divided in 8 groups of 4 teams, the same as in the football competition. Each team will play twice with the others on the same group, 1 game away, 1 game home, following the
UEFA Champions League Calendar1 point is awarded per win. The first two teams in each group qualify for the Round of 16. The 3rd placed teams qualify for the UEFA Europe League that I will host later on, hopefully.
In case of ties, the tiebreakers are:
1st - Results between the teams (only appliable if the tie is between 2 teams);
2nd - Away wins (the teams are placed such that those with most away wins are on top of the others);
3rd - Rounds to win (the teams which needed less rounds to win their games are on top of the others);
4th - Rounds to lose (the teams which took most rounds to lose their games are on top of the others).
Knock-out Stage (Round of 16, Quarter Finals and Semi-Finals) This is an elimination stage, with each team playing a game home and away. In the Round of 16 1st placed teams will play 2nd placed teams, randomly selected with the condition that, if possible, teams of the same country won't face each other. The Quarter finals games are also randomly selected, being the brackets defined for the Semi-finals from this moment on.
If a tie occurs, tie break game is played in the home of the team that:
- finished the group stage in the higher place,
- had most win-defeat differece,
- had most away wins,
- took less time to win their games,
- took most time to lose their games.
FinalThe final will be one game played in the Europa Map. The team who wins, receives this amazing trophy:
And of course... a CC Medal as well!
General Achievement MedalSince this is a fairly big tournament, to encourage the participation of players a
General Achievement Medal will be given to the Best Scorer of the Champions League. This is the player with most kills in all games of the tournament. So, even if your team does not make it until the end, you may have a glance at a medal if you're a sharpshot
