I think that boy is alright. He's still growing up. He buys better songs than One Direction does, so he'll prolly be around for forever.

Are we sure he's really Canadian?
It's like there are two Justin Biebers out there. There's this guy:

I live about 20 minutes away from where Justin (first name basis) was born and grew up and a street performer.
Kill him.
Please.

Re: Justin Bieber Slaps Reporter
All this talk about Justin Beieber (and incidentally, it seems nobody has actually watched the video in the OP and commented on it, but I digress) has reminded me of Canada's other teeny-bopper celebrity, Avril Levigne.
I was coincidentally driving past Napanee, her home town, a couple years ago, when she had said on some interview that she came from Napanee, which was "a boring little town where nothing ever happens." That doesn't seem like a particularly controversial statement. It just so happens that Napanee is a boring little town where nothing ever happens. And yet, people were frothing at the mouth with rage because she has said this. The radio DJ's were telling people to ban her from entering the city and throw her albums in the garbage and all kinds of nasty things, all because she dared to speak a perfectly simple and straightforward truth.
Is our society really so incredibly corrupt and pussy-whipped, that everything must be twisted into some form of flattery? Are we incapable of facing even the tiniest dose of non-flattering truth without going psychotic? To banish your town's most famous resident ever, because she dared to say something that wasn't dredged in butterscotch and icing sugar?
The world is fucked.

You could be observing sampling bias. Often times, the complainers are just a loud minority, but they seem so great because they catch your attention the most. So, I wouldn't bemoan the fate of the world yet.

Re: Justin Bieber Slaps Reporter
Good point. The majority of the people were probably thinking "Yeah, and that's the way I like it. A 'a boring little town where nothing ever happens', also known as 'a peaceful little town where you can enjoy a relatively stress-free life'."BigBallinStalin wrote:You could be observing sampling bias. But some people would take Avril Levigne's statement as a criticism. And most people don't handle criticism well....

I was in Napanee doing a show for the weeklong Pirate fest. I had the girls work on a pirate costume, with reptile themed eyepatches and everything. There was like 4 people in the crowd and they didn't care. I could have said: "Arr, here be my hoebags" and it wouldn't have got a rise out of anyone. There is a really cool museum east of Napanee, the woodworking museum. I had a mug from there that had a picture of a saw on it. It reminded me of that classic Canadian movie:
And of course, the other Canadian movie:
