its a tough choice depending on the game.

a rush game, the russians and the ottomans are good.

nr 10-20 i like the british
nr20 -30 i like the dutch (carabineers IMO are the best unit in game)
nr30 and above i like germans.

Overall though, I'll take the ottomans.

I started playing w/ Ottomans and they are still my favorite for the original. But Aztecs are definitely my favorite now, which weren't on your poll.

Ive played well over 100 games online and the biggest problem new players run into is rushing the creation of their army and not making enough settlers. Thats why ottomans are easy to learn but hard to master because you have to no forget to upgrade the amounts of settlers you can make.

i dont have it but i voted the germans because germany is awesome, you shouldd have put ireland on there just for the hell of it, i would have voted them for sure

i like the french because you dont have to build as many villagers. and the fact that they so strong saved me a couple of time but the russians are good. if you with a dutch ally and have him supply you. you can dominate

Dutch, hands down. Dutch is also best in Rise of Nations which is still much better then Age of Empires 3.

you should all get the Total War series. Theres Medieval: Total War, Medieval: Total War2, Rome: Total War, and Rome : Total War: Barbarian Invasion

I've been Ottomans from the beggining, so them. I also like the British, but Ottos are better imo.

I always play as the GFY myself; their settlers give them a poor early game, but once they get into their stride they're pretty much unstoppable.

yes i noticed that because of the choices.

i still prefer the aztecs. i don't play online because i am poor and still live in the dark age of dial-up. i guess you could say i only play w/ myself

the ottomans they are very good. they have more unique units thats makes them a very good choice in a skirmish game.

Dutch are the best cuz they have both pikeman and halberd, plus the skirmisher which comes fairly early.

Ottomans. I like Russians as well but the population limit always bites them in the arse. Brits are also good.

i like franchh just cause i can get resouces early

and then i biuld a field gun army and just blow everything up i quite effective but only with teammates that support you

I go for Ottomans, thier artillary is unstoppable, and the abus gunners are the sickest unit ever. You breeze through the 1st and 2nd ages, making a good foundation and getting to the imperial age really easy. Settlers don't cost anything, giving you a lot more money for millitary units, buildings and upgrades, and as long as you build enough houses, you don't really have to worry about your settler population, which is very helpful. You have stronger units than anyone in age II, and the most unique units in the game making you a very strong fighting force. Simply put, they are just sick...wow, I wrote way more than I expected to write just on one civilization.

Ottomans. I always focus my colony mostly on economy and rely mostly on cards and factories to give me troops. That's how lazy I am.
