Highest possible rank without freestyle or team games

there is no limit to the rank you theoreticly could achieve on your own, but most find it easier to maintain rank with teamgames or freestyle.

look for players with a limited amount of games player like jalijoo who is a Brigadier based on single games only...

Kaskavel made it to Conqueror on standard automatic sequential settings. I think that was mostly playing 1v1 Hive, which is quite a big and specialised map. I don't think you could do that on small or medium maps such as Classic though.
