FREESTYLE QUESTION
So I was playing a Freestyle game with my friend, and I ended a round. So I know I can't start the next round.
Apparently he was watching me play, and then as soon as I was done he started his turn. So he started his turn, and a few minutes later when I was checking my other games I notice that he had started the new round.
I know that the round has commenced and so any player that has not yet gone that round may make his/her play. So I make my plays, and ended up defeating a strategic point in his defence, before he was barely done deciding where he wanted to deploy his armies.
Now he is angry stating I had a double turn, and this is a game breaking exploit. I assume he thinks a person should finish their turn ? before I can go ? Anwyay,
Can I get some opinions or feedback, or something that I can reference to him to get him out of that notion ? I told him it was a game mechanic basically.
Thanks

This is not a "game breaking exploit" its a fair tactic in any freestylePlay Order
In a freestyle game it doesn't matter in which order players take their turns. After the last player takes his turn, a new round begins immediately. The player who triggers a new round is not allowed to take a second back-to-back turn and must wait for someone else to play.
game.
I would tell your friend to deploy quicker, and maybe wait a second before he takes his turn to see where you, or someone else goes, or, play Sequential which is:
Hope this helps, and by the way, you did nothing wrongIn a sequential game player 1 is first, then player 2, then player 3, etc. Sequential games are slower but they mimic the sitting-around-a-table boardgame experience. When playing a sequential game with teams the order is staggered, alternating between teams.
Happy gaming, and good luck!

Tell him to play sequencial if it bugs him... or deploy his troops quicker.
Freestyle gives the disadvantaged and the opportunistic a chance to catch up or get ahead if they time it right, because it is possible for any player to slip in two turns before an opponent goes. That game can also drive you bonkers always checking to see when that last person has finally taken their turn.

I used to just play freestyle since the games usually go a lot faster. Your quickly learning, just as I did, that sequential really is the best way to go regardless of speed.
If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?
Same here. In your case though, the other guys are obviously just sore losers and are probably more ragin with themselves than you.chewyman wrote:I used to just play freestyle since the games usually go a lot faster. yeah its a valid freestyle tactic, ive only played one freestyle in the last ummm 200 games? and i won it
it was mainly because i had alot of free time on my hands and wasnt intending on sleeping much so i was basically able to completely exploit the system. its a poor victory since i won due to the amount of times i checked the game status, so if i dont have that kind of free time i stick to sequential. its far better in many ways.

alex is dead on, freestyle is a wide open crapshoot with tactical adventures the other game options don't have and if you can't take advantage of them you tend to get mugged. My most recent game came down to who took their turn first, it was round 18 and we both had an 18 bonus, plus territories. If it had been a sequential game neither of us would have had a chance because others had the best positions when the game began and would have easily stomped us.
Play Order
In a freestyle game it doesn't matter in which order players take their turns. After the last player takes his turn, a new round begins immediately. The player who triggers a new round is not allowed to take a second back-to-back turn and must wait for someone else to play.
see that?
just cause the game allows you to do it dosn't make it right with the rules. that and he's a little one sided on his origional post to make it seem innocent. he deployed, attacked and had his card in under 3 mins from my deployment. i didn't know he was still lurking and waiting to play again. he had made his deployments/killed/got his card in under 3 mins all before my deploys/kills/card
that to me means he played the last turn and the first all i did was hit start turn, i didn't take it as fast.
so the moral of the story is its obviously against the rules as its clearly stated not allowed, its not written not able. its a possibility within the game mechanices but its not right, that makes it an exploit.

it is an exploit, but its NOT against the rules im afraid, as you had hit begin turn you started the next round so he did not theoretically get a double turn. im afraid you have to expect this whenever you play freestyle. it is a valid tactic and one which is frequently used.
if you dont like it come play some sequential games with me
i avoid freestyle coz of the exploits.
by the way was your name inspired from perfect dark?

Freestyle is just that FREE.
You can take your turn in any sequence you like and all players can be taking their turn at the same time if that is their choice. Like it or lump it that is the way of freestyle, it is not exploiting the system any more than getting a mixed set with only 3 cards is, cashing them and then killing the person with 5 cards.
It's what makes freestyle different to sequential.
OP's friends need to stop their whining; they were out smarted in the game they were playing!
Especially the 2nd friend who had seen it happen!! (I'd call that guy a slow learner!)

Read my post earlier in the thread, this question has already been answered, I say LOCK THE TOPIC !

. . . and you are entitled to your ignorance of the situation, which are history now and not subject to change. When you look at the Game Log it will remind you of the facts of the game which are; a new round was initiated, meatsim went first and Guuner followed. It's not rocket science and it's not a double move.
. . . and you can employ the same tactic any time, as it's part of the game.

and you apparently are entitled to shoot off and your own interpretation
of the situation and the rules.
if i see someone deploying i can deploy faster, if i have the game camped and planned. i can deploy and end my turn in seconds. the fact remained i took the last turn and the first turn which is a rule violation because in no way does beginning to deploy constitute playing its a mere fraction.
your arguement that someone pressing the begin turn button constitutes playing a turn from the rules is as idiotic as you my friend clearly are and if you are the kind of player that can justify this type of behavior and participate yourself then you are a sad little man.

Meatism we understand your point of view. It is a cheap tactic which puts most players off playing Freestyle games, but thats the way it is played. If it is not a tactic you can live with then you have only 2 choices.
A) Stop playing Freestyle
B) Try to convince the other 17,000+ players on this site to stop doing it
