Nope. IC was just made a mod recently... couple months ago? I was made a mod last June. Not sure about the others. As far as "more to do" ... we adjust and help each other out as needed. And Lack has automated a lot of things to make our jobs easier.poo-maker wrote:Not that you guys aren't doing a great job. But, haven't you all been mods since cc was a couple months old? There are more things to do since then, and i think that making someone like hecter a mod, would get things done faster.
Hecter being a mod?

hey you guys all do a good job but sometimes you can be a little blunt. on the whole you don't do it but every now and then some1 gets a bit touchy.wicked wrote:Excuse me? That's hardly the case at all.joeyjordison wrote:some mods aren't all that kind to new players.
yeh i suppose so but i'll continue because i just want it talked through. i'm not trying to force a decision and want the mods to make the decision based upon what they think will benefit the site most. if they say its end of discussion then it is.hecter wrote:Guys, AK and wicked have both said no. They obviously don't want me to be a mod, and it is largely there decision. I imagine we can just let this thread die now.
Mods are nothing but nice to newbies. If we get out of line, the monkey gets out his whip.
I've yet to see a newbie get upset over a mod answer... it's mostly the community members who tend to be rude, blunt and give out wrong info. If you're worried about how newbies are treated, talk to those people... although I've done that a lot already. In fact, I think I asked hecter at one point to be nicer to newbies.
Meh, i wasn't sure about the bit about how long you have been mods.wicked wrote:Nope. IC was just made a mod recently... couple months ago? I was made a mod last June. Not sure about the others. I think that there should be a new mod, but the new mod should be approved by existing mods too.
I'll shut-up now

sums up my view too.poo-maker wrote:I think that there should be a new mod, but the new mod should be approved by existing mods too.
AK and wicked if u aren't happy with hecter as a mod then it isn't going to happen. thanks for the time and hecter i hope you carry on being helpful even if you don't get mod status

I don't remember that. I just know that you have asked me to stop spamming the forums every so often…wicked wrote:In fact, I think I asked hecter at one point to be nicer to newbies.
In terms of the mods capabilities, I know that they are great at it. They are fairly mature, and only rag on people that they know can take it well (i.e. Spamalot) and they do there job well. I think that the ONLY issue in this matter is how fast they can get to it. A new mod would be able to provide answers, deleted posts and moved threads faster. Now, both AK and wicked have decided that IF there was to be a new mod, it probably wouldn't be me. I think that we all can respect that decision, and move on.
In heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine... You got your things, and I've got mine.

Before AK's question were answered, it begs to be asked of Hector what more would you do as a mod than you can as a civilian?AK_iceman wrote:Why do we need more?
I'm not terribly familiar with Hecter, but even assuming the very best about him my guess is not much more. It's about prestige. Prestige, not necessarily for Hecter - but those familiar in his CC circles.
Judging by the content of many, CC has becoming an identifying social outlet for the nerdy. Starting committees and acheiving "mod" status are just means to an undeniable climb in standing.
It's the only explanation for this - why else wouldn't contributing meaningfully and helping foster the same in others be insufficient as its own reward?

possibly but i didn't suggest it for those reasons. you can check and you will find that the only things i know of hecter are his posts in topics i have read.cleveridea wrote:It's about prestige. Prestige, not necessarily for Hecter - but those familiar in his CC circles.
as for what could he actually do with mod status it would reinforce what he says and would give him the ability to move and delete posts as necessary
And BTW, general forum mod duty is really pretty tame, and speed of answering questions or moving threads really isn't a problem. There's been no real need for much as of late. There's only been an occassional troll, nothing really major. Be glad most of you weren't around for the bad trolls. The mods are primarily in place as a stopgap to a forum takeover from trolls, second to that is the general mundane day-to-day stuff. And with new tools from Lack in place to further prevent mass trolling, our jobs are that much easier.
Again, let me reiterate... moving/deleting threads is not really a big deal and there's no "emergency" component of that.joeyjordison wrote:as for what could he actually do with mod status it would reinforce what he says and would give him the ability to move and delete posts as necessary

Over time the quality of what he has to say will definitely do the trick - it worked in terms of your respect for what he has to say - all without being a mod, right?joeyjordison wrote:...it would reinforce what he says...
I don't think anyone has even made a case that these things are being done less than admirably already. Heck, wicked stomped my goofy post the other day in like 5 minutes.joeyjordison wrote:... andwould give him the ability to move and delete posts as necessary...
Anyway, I'm just having a conversation not making accusations. I think I'm right about why someone would desire being a mod, but it's just my musings at that.
Carry on.

I don't doubt you a bit. I really try to throw you a thank you every once in a while just to even out the onslaught.wicked wrote:PRESTIGE???? HAHHAHAHAHHA
OMG don't make me laugh so hard... it hurts. If you only saw the PM's and emails we get constantly cussing us out.
Still, I think prestige is ultimately what many here seek - look at what all the point system arguments turn out to be. Unfortunately there isn't real prestige to be had here, just some fun. But people like to pretend.
