JavaScript is a standard tool in any cracking attempt.
However, I believe you have mixed up JavaScript and Java, which are two different programming languages. Java is more useful in designing object-oriented code and makes up many functions. JavaScript is used directly in website HTML, but is only used for more minor coding.
The US gov't is saying to disable Java, not JavaScript. Don't disable JavaScript.
It's also why Java is targeted so much- the language is becoming more and more integrated as it works on many platforms, and so is used more and more commonly.
Zero-day flaw- where the crackers find a computer vulnerability and use it before anyone else knows about it and tries to patch it.
