Filet is a french word, as in filet mignon.
Fillet is an English word and is pronounced "Fill-it".

I'm sure some Bigoted Islamic organization has. But you'll notice that the title of this thread doesn't say anything about Christianity, so you're comparing apples to oranges. That's really a bit too far off topic.Phatscotty wrote:Has the Nation of Islam infiltrated Facebook as well?Juan_Bottom wrote:It's pretty much exactly the same as Christianity and most other religions in that respect.Phatscotty wrote:Juan Bottom. that's how they say it on the news, and I assume that what the "cute" spelling is about.Woodruff wrote:I've always pronounced it "fillay", but that could just be a midwestern thing, for all I know.Timminz wrote:I meant the one I didn't spell correctly. I only menat that a Brit would be confused by the spelling (I was when I first saw it) because we wouldn't pronounce it that way.

EAGLE FORUM: $5,000
Eagle Forum is an extreme right-wing anti-gay group that consistently promotes disparaging claims about LGBT people. The group opposed the Supreme Court’s decision to decriminalize homosexuality in 2003 and has railed against courts for promoting a “gay agenda” in schools.
FAMILY RESEARCH COUNCIL: $1,000
The FRC has been labeled a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) for its propagation of known falsehoods about the LGBT community. For example, president Tony Perkins has a long history of false and inflammatory attacks, such as claiming that pedophilia is a "homosexual problem."

That's $6,000 to "hate" groups, not the $2 million you've claimed previously. In fact, the vast majority of the donations listed on that side are to groups who are pro-marriage and family, not "anti-gay".Juan_Bottom wrote:http://www.noh8campaign.com/article/boycott-chick-fil-a/

By the way, relying on the SPLC to determine hate groups is hilarious. Only half of their hate groups are actually hate groups; the other half are any conservative organization or person who they oppose.

You don't even agree to the common definition of a hate group.

It's pretty encouraging to see so many ordinary, every-day citizens come out to support freedom of speech and Chic-Fil-A's values. I was reading today in the news about one resteraunt in Iowa which had already served 3,000 customers by 1:00 and had over 300 more waiting in line!

It's really great to see all you Christians continue to try to twist this into a "Freedom of Speech" issue now that we know that "Chic-Fil-A" sponsors groups that are for killing homosexuals. Bible-Conservatives are this generation's KKK.

you have to admit, this was a hell of a business move by Chic-Fil-A, regardless of the social consequences.
Obviously this has a large multiplier effect on its short-term profits but it'll be interesting to see if the long-term loss of krustomers was worth it (vs. the loyalty of the gay bashers).

"Focus on the Family" is, in my personal opinion, one of the worst of the bunch. Their name sounds as though they're only Family-Oriented, but that's really not true. Granted, they didn't donate "millions" to them either, I just thought their name really stood out on the list, even though Juan didn't include them in his post.Night Strike wrote:That's $6,000 to "hate" groups, not the $2 million you've claimed previously. I think that's the key. It seems to be a short-term boon, but I'm not sure that will help long-term and may hinder (unknown, obviuosly).Army of GOD wrote: Obviously this has a large multiplier effect on its short-term profits but it'll be interesting to see if the long-term loss of krustomers was worth it (vs. the loyalty of the gay bashers).

Re: Bigoted Organization "Chic-Fil-A" infiltrates facebook
To be honest, there are two reasons I rarely go to Chick-Fil-A: the free-standing store in my city (as opposed to the mall's food court, and I hate going to the mall) is always busy and their prices tend to be a little higher than I normally want to pay for fast food. I think a lot of the stores are busy during most of the week, so I doubt their bottom line will be hurt long-term. Because of yesterday's event, the store in my city actually had to close at 8:30 because they had run out of food.Woodruff wrote:I think that's the key. “Cathy also was asked if he would hire a gay individual. He paused for a long while and then said, ‘Well, it depends on the circumstances.’ I want clarity.”
Moreno noted that Chick-fil-A has been sued 19 times for discriminating against minorities, including a current case involving a pregnant woman who was fired so she could "stay home and cook and not cook at Chick-fil-A."

I just want to say this, though... these folks are pretty powerful. They have gained power largely because a lot of highly educated people have considered them beneath notice, don't interact with them except to laugh, etc.
and.... review the debate over proof of God/science for a key example. As long as people insist that science DOES disprove God, then nothing you provide as scientific proof will be considered valid. This applies whether the proof is of Global warming, that homosexuality is biologically based, or any other debate.

For the record, it's Chick, not Chic. Those words mean different things.
Also for the record, they make amazing chicken and it tastes great.

Is this one of those "Mussolini made the trains run on time" kind of apologetics? Cause surely nice tasting fast food doesn't excuse donating to organisations that are partly responsible for executions of homosexuals in Uganda, if Juan's sources are correct.chapcrap wrote:For the record, it's Chick, not Chic. And about Uganda:
EDIT: I mean, you can't take Juan sources from what he says. He can't even spell the company name right. So, he obviously doesn't graze his material very meticulously. If you're going to argue against something, like Chick-Fil-A, then come across competent, informed, and have something ready for what people are going to respond back to you. Otherwise, why bother?

I'm guessing that you're not gay though, and thus haven't experienced the nastier side of their operation.
