i planned on doing it myself. but since i'm retired from the foundry i decided it's not worth bothering to learn how to do it so when i talked with zimmah about knights and warlocks, pirates and merchants i also asked him to do this one. if you don;t believe me just ask him and see it was a last moment thing.
in fact if you look at the map images you'll see only the most recent ones have his name.

well, i would have given you the pleasure, but since this map was so easy to do, i just took a few moments to create it in between my daily routine. these maps are quite boring to do anyway, it's mostly copy-pasting.

they need to stand out on the busy background. it was discussed at some point a few pages back.

i actually thought the current impassables were place-holders for proper mountains or something. although they don't look pretty at all, they do work for gameplay purposes in the sense that they're clear.

they're not mountains or forests or rivers. that would not fit with the style of the map. they're just some abstract image that's meant to symbolize an impassable border. and as you said they're clear.iancanton wrote:i actually thought the current impassables were place-holders for proper mountains or something. although they don't look pretty at all, they do work for gameplay purposes in the sense that they're clear.

They are similar to Brazil's impassables, which aren't natural features, but constructs to make a balanced map.DiM wrote:they're not mountains or forests or rivers. that would not fit with the style of the map. they're just some abstract image that's meant to symbolize an impassable border. and as you said they're clear.iancanton wrote:i actually thought the current impassables were place-holders for proper mountains or something. although they don't look pretty at all, they do work for gameplay purposes in the sense that they're clear.

Re: Slovakia

Just a couple of minor suggestions for the small map:
- Make more noticeable the border between Kysuce and Orava

- Same for Podpolanie - Novohrad, maybe have the border visible instead of under the region name

I've noticed that 888 cover a bit kosice airport name on the small, but i don't think we will have 3 digits games on this one.
Finally, even if I agree, please remove the text in the bottom right corner on the large.
Good work

It's a shame lackattack converts the images to jpegs, otherwise I'd have steganographized all kinds of weird shit on my map images... like maybe a black&white picture of a huge penis, fight club style.
(for those who don't know, digital steganography (the most common method anyway) basically works by flattening the least significant bit of each colour channel in the image to 0, then using those bits to encode a hidden image within the image, either monochrome or 3-bit rgb - the difference of 1 in a colour value is so minor that the image won't be noticeable with the naked eye, only if you run the image again through a de-steganography script. Sadly, this kind of steganography won't work for jpegs due to the type of compression used for them that tends to scramble the lesser bits of the colours...)

Re: Slovakia
don't rush tnb.
please bin this map. i'm currently in the process of amiably (or via legal methods) removing all my quenched maps from cc. that obviously implies i won't desire the quenching of this map either.
