I laughed when I saw the selection of maps remaining. It might actually be even "worse" according to those that were complaining a few rounds ago. That said, up until recently there were some USA Apocalypse, which is pretty basic. Plus there are still a bunch of random, which you have a good chance of getting some basic maps.

You're joking, right?

I mean, don't get me wrong.. I'm quite happy with what's available now.... Rorke's Drift, Middle Ages, and Arms Race, are all maps that I like, so I'm certainly not going to complain. But calling USApocalypse a basic map is insane... that is one of the most brutal maps of all. The reversing "polarity" of the bonuses means that your opponent can change your bonus to an antibonus with one successful attack so unless you're predicting the future you never know whether taking it will help you or kill you. It's like playing laser tag in a Hall of Mirrors.

Haha, did not know that. I just looked at the map and it looked like a pretty simple one. I didn't read all the bonus stuff. My mistake. But yeah, I rescind my statement. It's a moot point though as was later pointed out--it looks like everyone had a chance to join their games anyway.

Finally my first 3-0 round...I am just wondering if I can request maps for next round. If so how do I do it ?

Just post your requests in this thread. You can also request specific combinations of settings - e.g., All Your Base Are Belong To Us plays differently with fog vs. with no fog ("sunny"), and Hive is faster with Escalating spoils than with No spoils.

I believe the estimate was 42. So as of next round, those who have survived, will have survived to the 1/3 mark. I get the feeling the tournament will be continuing to go until at least the beginning of 2013.

The competition definitely is getting harder. I've lucked out this round and suspect I'll be getting a 3-0 win, but the last two or three rounds I've only won 1 of 3 games I've joined.

As far as how many joined, I can't remember for certain, but I know it was somewhere in between 2000 and 3000 people... I think 2400 or so? I'm sure someone around here has the exact number handy.

42 rounds?!? I won a tourney with 128 players or so, and that took about 8 months with only 6 or 7 games. lol

I just barely survive in this tourney. It seems the random maps are being kind to me.

As I recall somewhat in excess of 100 players never joined a game. Couldnt be bothered to find that one, though
