Oh FFS
What a shite thread
I was born in Herts, grew up in Aberdeen & Edinburgh, then moved to London years ago. I love scotland. I love england. I love Wales too. Big Ern your opinions are as bigoted and rubbish as the countries you claim to hate.
Driving up the A1 how would you know you had crossed any border if it wasn't for the road sign? You have the chip on yoru shoulder, mate. You have called scotland 3rd-world, and brought up an inventor (who may as well have been born in Angola - who cares what country the telephone was invented in? Does it make any difference to anything?) as a sop.
Wales and scotland are leeches, are they? What about the north of england's moneysink local authorities? Why have you got more in common with a geordie than with a glaswegian? Talk about chips on shoulders. Sheesh.

I'm English
I love Wales: beautiful beaches, mountains, forrests, lakes, waterfalls, etc.; great mountain biking plus excellent dedicated trails; a wonderful accent when speaking english and a superbly idiosyncratic language. Any guesses for what 'poppity ping' means ? (please excuse any spelling mistakes!)
...'microwave'! (popity is oven I think... oven that pings! Cool, eh?)
Of course England has it's share of these things as well (if you want idiosyncracies, look no further than the game of cricket) but wales is just a bit more 'foreign'... ;o)

I lived in Scotland for 4 years so I'm well versed in the attitudes of the natives, and it was during my time there that my opinion of the Scots changed dramatically to what it is today thanks to all the bogted peiople I met. Belive me, if you are an Englishmen living in Scotland, the locals will make their thought known as to what they think of the English very quickly.DAZMCFC wrote:

It's quite amusing that I am being lambasted for my views on Scotland and Wales, when the majoirty of people fromboth of these countries use the first opportunity to have a go at mine, for example this threads original topic.
the opening topic was childish, your posts border on hatred - big diff.Big Ern wrote:I lived in Scotland for 4 years so I'm well versed in the attitudes of the natives, and it was during my time there that my opinion of the Scots changed dramatically to what it is today thanks to all the bogted peiople I met. i would say that it was not the english the locals were showing their thoughts about, far more likely to be just you that they found to be unlikeable.
this thread is the worst festering boil on the forum.
Scotland, Wales and NI rely on England for a lot of their services. It is true that England recieves the lowest per capita funding from the government. Scotland, Wales and NI would have terrible economies if it wasn for England as the amount of business done by those 3 with England is huge and they rely upon England for their money. However, England also rely upon them 3, as otherwise UK would be the 6th largest economy, rather then the 5th atm. Also, the UK is stronger united then divided. I dont have anything against the Welsh, Scottish or Irish, only when they do their anti-England and nationalist shit.

You all need to listen to the words of a great, possibly the greatest, United Stateser Ben Franklin. When my fore fathers were trying to break away from the insane monarch George III and form a Republic all of the colonies weren't united in the effort. Franklin, a great satirist, said, "Either we hang together or we hang separately"
Now I tell you what I would gladly kick West Virginia and most of the South out of the Union, they are nothing but in-breeding hillbillys (in the way I take it that the Welsh are sheep fuckers... see here in the US we can make stupid generalizations too) But we shouldnt, it is our union that makes us strong. As soon as we stop hanging together we will most surely hang separately.
So work through your differences, citizens of the UK, because it is your differences that make you strong.

I live in east london. Here, we sneer at west london for being full of rich twunts and pampered princesses. But east and west london gang up on south london, because everyone there is a murderer. But then Londoners as a whole sneer at anywhere outside the M25 (our ring road). The whole south of england, however, hates the north of england and vice versa. Thsi is the way things are - it's very silly. But i think in mostcases if you scractehd the surface you would find this is all just harless posturing. Except Bigot Ern, obviously.

You're right. How dare I be bigoted against such a peace loving society as the Scots. They simply love us and are a vital part of the United Kingdom. I should have known better than to challenge you and the other members of the 'Army of Political Correctness.' Give yourselves a big pat on the back for being so morally correct, you deserve itheavycola wrote:Well said.nmhunate wrote:You all need to listen to the words of a great, possibly the greatest, United Stateser Ben Franklin. The Scots, such peaceful people, who dare I slander their proud nation. In Aberdeen, a disabled former postman, Ian Smith, 41, was dragged from his car outside a primary school and beaten for wearing a red England top and having two St George's crosses flying on his car. He was left with a badly bruised right eye and double vision.
Yet another example of Scottish hospitality towards the English.

You cite one horrific news story as proof that scots are.. what? violent? Did the OJ Simpson murder make all black people killers?
I am afraid you are a bigot. I am not being politically correct in suggesting that, merely correct.
Scotland IS a vital part of the UK, you daily-mail-inhaling twat. Of course it is, it's the union's second largest member. They hate 'us'? Who is 'us'? Anyone born south of an imaginary line north of cumbria?

Scotland is a burden on the English economy so I am of the opinion to let them have their independance so we can stop havng to foot the bill.
It is also sad that you feel the need to resort to name calling. This is my opinion, I am not trying to change your mind or other peoples views, but I have a right to think what I like, and if you don't feel comfortable with that, then I couldn't give a toss.
the Scots are the underclass of Great Britian, not even fit to clean our boots.
bigoted 3rd world country
This is bigotry and generalisation. it is also about a country in which I grew up, and is directed towards every one of my scottish friends.so lame can't even create a decent economy
So yes, I will name call, like you have been doing to several million people.

Alabama, Mississippi, West Virginia, New Mexico, are all burdens on the US economy, hells bells if California were its own country it would be a member of the G-8, so should the US force out of our union the less productive states? They still produce things and contribute to our GDP. None of these are reasons to kick the poor parts out of the Union. Just because more federal dollars go to Alaska then come from it is no reason for them to leave to be kicked out.
The thing that puzzles me about the poll, since I've only just now got around to reading the options, is that the first option is
"Um... ya"
Erm, where in the whole of the British Isles, would anyone say "Um...ya", unless they were apeing American vernacular?
Surely, it should be "Erm...Yes." or "Er...Aye." Or all the variations on "Erm" and "Yes/Aye", none of which include "Um" or "ya" to my knowledge.
I think the original poster lacks so much confidence in his own Welsh identity that he is trying to ingratiate himself to who he thinks are the majority on this forum.

Why don't you actually come down to the south and spend some time down here to see what it's actually like? In-breeding hillbillies are in the minority.nmhunate wrote:Now I tell you what I would gladly kick West Virginia and most of the South out of the Union, they are nothing but in-breeding hillbillys

this is all getting on my tit. called big-ern.in the uk a complete ingrate was dragged off his white horse by a crowd of untermensch and given a pasting. reports at the scene show that the abused was a complete twat and deserved all that came to him. on his arrival at a NHS hospital on the welsh border the victim told the nurse to f*ck off with her filthy welsh hands, as a result he died a grisly MRSA blamed death. the nurse laughed and pissed in his mouth. a little boy cheered.
your vitriol has become so over-blown that i heve seemed to revert to my childhood.
my (half-english) dad would kick your dad's arse.
i would also like to point out that i would never vote yes in a poll like this.
