Re: Gangster Mafia - Day 1 - Unexpected Murder at Rodionland
I would rather keep the mafia in the dark, rather than have them lynch a town power role we could have used later

So just sit here till night? That is giving the mafia the advantage is it not?MoB Deadly wrote:I was under the impression we try not to random lynch, lets get some evidence first? Re: Gangster Mafia - Day 1 - Unexpected Murder at Rodionland
No,town is expected to lose someone every night that's why we have the numbers right now. Lets keep those numbers and not let them catch up. Investigators and sheriffs could get some crucial info as early as N1, lets not risk lynching them. Hell, we dont even know what TYPE of game we are playing, we could be playing a Mason game and not know it. Let some townies at least discover each other to rule people out, even if they don't discover mafia.dazza2008 wrote:So just sit here till night? disclaimer: this is my first forum mafia so if I am wrong tell me and Ill just follow the bandwagon, but im pretty sure the fundamentals of the game are the same..
Re: Gangster Mafia - Day 1 - Unexpected Murder at Rodionland
I have not played lots but I always think its better to do something. Maybe not lynch but at least talk and we will have more to go on for day 2. Investigations will help too obviously but the wat people act on day 1 could give us something too.

Re: Gangster Mafia - Day 1 - Unexpected Murder at Rodionland
A question to some of the more experienced mafia players...does Rodion's elminate "all the threats to the town" sound to anyone else like we may be dealing with some strange things in this game? It stands to reason in my book that action is better than no action here so we have a better idea of what we are up against.
I'm still suspicious of Dazerazor...making a play to keep the new guy in sounds shady and he didn't come out and defend himself when the joke count was mounting up. I would at least like to hear from him.

"All threats of the town" is a standard phrase. That yes, it obviously covers any third-party threats, but doesn't necessarily mean there HAS to be some. It's a mystery!

I won't unvote and revote yet, but I will FOS MoB, for this reason:
Why are you trying to get the town to do nothing? From the way you phrased your previous statements, it seems that you just want to sit here and wait when action is critical even at this first step.

Re: Gangster Mafia - Day 1 - Unexpected Murder at Rodionland
I fail to understand why a Lynch is even a valid option on D1. I actually completely disagree with lynching on D1, unless there is critical information I am missing. Is it safe to say with a 17 player game, we have approx 3 maf, and 2 neutral? Definitely no more than about 4 maf right??
So at D1 we do not have any leads, we are merely basing off of people's activity and their ability to persuade. If we lynch, we have an approx 65%-70% chance of lynching town the first day. I would rather keep our town numbers as high as we can just in case we have multiple killers.
I do see the opposite side of this where we could get lucky and lynch a mafia, which would give the town a huge lead, but I would much prefer to play it safe. And what would town do if we lynch a critical role? Or even worse, if the mafia gets lucky and kills ANOTHER critical town role? I think town loses WAY too many games random lynching.

And again, I am used to a max of 5 minute Daytimes, with a 7 day deadline, you can really learn a lot about people. It is easier for mafia not to mess up their story during 5 minute daytimes, than over the course of a whole week

The reason why you go for a lynch Day 1 is to establish vote patterns. Town's greatest weapon against mafia is the lynch. If we no lynch day 1, then mafia gets a free night kill. So then we're town 1 townie (who could be a cop or doc) and we still have no leads day 2. I mean, there's a possibility that the cop gets a guilty result and he outs a mafia, but chances are he gets an innocent investigation and we're no closer to finding mafia.MoB Deadly wrote:I fail to understand why a Lynch is even a valid option on D1. Generally, the people who suggest a no lynch day 1 tend to be noob scum, which I'm not accusing you of being, but understand that cases Day 1 tend to be weaker due to the lack of information known. And right now, suggesting a no lynch is scummier than submarining or inactivity.

Hey guys.
Safari is right about day one lynching. It's actually suprising how much info it can yield especially when there's a few new players.

Vote Admiral my mafia insticts might be rusty but this kind of inoffensive non-post smells like classic noob-scum to me. He/she also seems to have submerged since.AdmiralGaal wrote:Holy cow, everyone is voting for so many different people... not sure who to choose haha

Alrite MoB, I'll take that argument - for now. I can understand how going into a different atmosphere changes things, but I'll be watching you...
Ice, any reasoning behind that instinct? Or am I just blind?

I believe the reasoning is the tone of the post. Appearance of being active, non commital, and not trying to draw attention.slowreactor wrote:Alrite MoB, I'll take that argument - for now. I can understand how going into a different atmosphere changes things, but I'll be watching you...

Alright guys I will certainly remember this for future games! I appreciate you explaining it to me rather than instant lynching me
