So using BOB or not is just a question of how much time you want to put in each game. You get a better overview if you play without BOB, because you spent more time looking at the board, checking the options and you understand stuff like the bonus system, you donĀ“t simply check by BOB if you have a bonus or not.
I am sure you are right about playing more carefully and understanding the bonuses better without BOB, though I can't imagine doing it. I guess I am too lazy. It is such a useful tool and I am so used to it that if I didn't play with it, I would be insecure and always think I was missing stuff. One of the most useful things about it is seeing immediately what the tert counts are.
