Only premium players can take part in this tournament, since the game load is 3, which will take nearly all of your game slots if you are a non-premium member.
All premium players will be accepted unless you are banned due to poor sportsmanship in another tournament of mine.

On May 13, 1987, a young 19-year old German boy by the name of Mathias Rust began the most vital journey of his life that would ultimately spark the collapse of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War. Enduring the disappointment after the failure to secure an arms reduction deal at the Reykjavik meetings between U.S. President Reagan and Soviet President Gorbachev, Rust was motivated by a desperation for peace, and wished to construct an "imaginary bridge" from West to East and fly to the heart of communism, Red Square in Moscow.
One must not even mention the risks involved in attempting an illegal entry into Soviet air space. The Korean Airlines Flight 007, tragically, was shot down on September 1, 1983 after straying into Soviet territory due to the most basic of pilot errors in the navigation system. All 269 aboard perished.
The odds were certainly against the young German boy. He claimed he had a 50-50 chance, but in reality, his chances were much slimmer. Just one missile from a fighter jet could completely smash through Rust's Cessna...
But on Border Guards Day, May 28, 1987, Rust shocked the world as a startled and confused crowd approached his Cessna, which he landed at the heart of Moscow, arguably the most-defended city on the planet at the time.
Rust was arrested and was sentenced to 4 years in the infamous Lefortovo prison for "illegal entry" and "malicious hooliganism." Just over 2 months later, however, he was released out of good will after the Americans and the Soviets signed another arms treaty.
In the aftermath of the Red Square landing, President Gorbachev, a radical unlike any of his predecessors who pushed for slow democratization, openness, and restructuring, dismissed Defense hardliners Sergei Sokolov and Alexander Koldunov. This enabled Gorbachev to accelerate his reforms, perestroika and glasnost. He hoped reform would outpace the desire for independence in the Soviet satellites. But prosperity never materialized as a result of the reforms, and Gorbachev's own desire for democratization backfired. Lithuania and other Soviet states, sensing a weakening of the USSR and growing independence, seceded, and the Soviet President was forced to abide his constitution, which allowed for secession. Not doing so would be undemocratic and despotic. But secession signaled the collapse of the USSR, and on December 25, 1991, one of the most, if not the most, inhumane, cruel, and brutal empires that killed well over 30 million people, was terminated.
Can you survive Rust's landmark voyage? This tournament will test the abilities of 32 aspiring aviators seeking to change the world. But only one will triumph and land in Red Square...
This is a standard, best-of-three single-elimination tournament, for 32 players.
ALL Games will have these settings: Standard Game Type Automatic Initial Troops Sequential Play Order Nuclear Spoils (err...it's the Cold War, isn't it?) Chained Reinforcements Fog of war (The USSR was a very closed society) Casual Round Length

ALL Games will have these settings: Standard Game Type Automatic Initial Troops Sequential Play Order Nuclear Spoils (err...it's the Cold War, isn't it?) Chained Reinforcements Fog of war (The USSR was a very closed society) Casual Round Length
On May 13, 1987, Rust takes off from Uetersen Airfield on the outskirts of Hamburg, Germany.
Map for this Round:Germany The 32 players are randomly divided into 16 series of 2 players each. All games will take place on the Germany map. In each series, the 2 players will play 3 games. The player that wins the most games in the series is the winner. The winner of each series advances to the Round of 16. The loser of each series is eliminated from the tournament. Thus, 16 players advance from this stage.
Five hours after take off, Rust lands his plane in the Shetland Islands of Scotland, where he stays for 2 days.
Map for this Round:Scotland The 16 players are randomly divided into 8 series of 2 players each. All games will take place on the Scotland map. In each series, the 2 players will play 3 games. The player that wins the most games in the series is the winner. The winner of each series advances to the Quarterfinals. The loser of each series is eliminated from the tournament. Thus, 8 players advance from this stage.
The Quarterfinals: Visiting Reykjavik and the Hofdi House
Rust was motivated by the breakdown of the Reykjavik summit, and he visited the Hofdi House, where Gorbachev and Reagan met and came so close to signing a nuclear arms reduction treaty. Rust said the house, "was locked, but I felt I got in touch with the spirit of the place."
Map for this Round:Iceland The 8 players are randomly divided into 4 series of 2 players each. All games will take place on the Iceland map. In each series, the 2 players will play 3 games. The player that wins the most games in the series is the winner. The winner of each series advances to the Semfinals. The loser of each series is eliminated from the tournament. Thus, 4 players advance from this stage.
The Semifinals: The Final Leg in the West: Helsinki
On May 25, twelve days after his first takeoff, Rust arrives at Malmi Airport in Helsinki, Finland. It was the last stop before the bold journey into communist territory began.
Map for this Round:Nordic Countries The 4 players are randomly divided into 2 series of 2 players each. All games will take place on the Nordic Countries map. In each series, the 2 players will play 3 games. The player that wins the most games in the series is the winner. The winner of each series advances to the Final. The loser of each series is eliminated from the tournament. Thus, 2 players advance from this stage.
On Border Guards Day, May 28, 1987, Rust travels over 400 miles from the border to the heart of communism: Red Square, Moscow. Three missiles were put on alert and a fighter jet followed close by Rust's Cessna, but the incident never made it up the chain of command because Soviet officials frequently lost track of Rust on the radar and did not believe the fighter pilot's report. One official even claimed that he "conclude[d] that it was geese." And so, in the confusion and the Soviets' reluctance to fire on yet another aircraft (in the wake of the horrific attack on the Korean Airlines), Rust swooped down in search of a place to land. Indeed, after some time, he saw the Kremlin and Red Square and landed, parking his plane next to St. Basil's Cathedral.
Map for this Round:Soviet Union The 2 remaining players play in 1 series of 3 games. All games will take place on the Soviet Union map. The player that wins the most games in the series is the champion of the tournament, having completed Mathias Rust's historic flight and landing at Red Square!
All players will have approximately 72 hours to join their games. The tournament organizer will send a message to a player who does not join a game within 48 hours, asking them to accept the last invite and join within the remaining 24 hours.
If, in the Round of 32, a player does not join a game within approximately 72 hours, a reserve will be called upon to take over permanently for that player.
If a player does not join a game within approximately 72 hours in any other round of the tournament, that player forfeits and the player's opponent will automatically win the series.
