I found a new potential issue with the map: Qualifier 6 and Group D have the exact same teams. That means a player HAS to go through the finals bracket in order to attack those two sections if they do not have any territories currently there. No other qualifier/group has this issue as there is always a path you can take from one qualifier to a group then back to a different qualifier. Unless this was designed purposefully, I think it could lead to a major imbalance.

it is an imbalance but u can go through the quarter finals to get there and not the whole final bracket from group c

but u r correct that it creates an imbalance for sure

I noticed that, but assumed it was designed that way for whatever reason. Besides, the tournaments are already underway, so it is what it is now. Good or bad, we all have to play on the same map.

Also, since New Zealand is the only country that can attack from qualifier 3 to the group stage, you can hold a really easy bonus for a while there too.

Why is this map, not in beta, in constant flux? Kinda sucks learning a map only to have it change with out warning

Pretty sad that it finally gets issues modified only 4 days before the event ends.

Subject: World Cup Map Bungle

lackattack wrote:Today I updated the 2011 World Cup map, and it changed the gameplay affecting many games including two tournaments. I shouldn't have applied that update to ongoing games just like that, and I failed to read the instructions provided to me by samuelc812. This was pretty stupid of me and I take full responsibility. It is not the fault samuelc812 or any other of our wonderful volunteers.

I have reverted back to the previous version of the map, and hopefully we can sort things out with affected games...

We should keep nuetrals in this map. It makes it the map so much more skillful. Otherwise it's all about who rolls the best since all the territories pretty much connect. Keep it with nuetrals!!!!!!!!!

Only one person has complained about neutrals in this thread. Don't change it Sam or anyone else who's working on it. It's much better the way it is!

yes, new version of the map without neutrals is ridicolous. gives huge advantage to first playing player (in 1v1 mode). it was very playable before, when neutrals were there, but now it sucks.
