The accused are suspected of:
point dumping

Game number(s):

Most if not all.

Comments: The scoring makes it nearly impossible to get below 400 without intentionally losing games and dumping points.

all should be warned. all that drop below again should be warned. All that ever dropped below should be warned. A 500 point cap should be put in place. And any continued should be kicked off site as per new point dumping procedures.

Again, I simply cannot hesitate to point out, that this has been allowed to flourish as long as it has, while countless hours have been spent on a few individual cases, that may possibly have constituted point dumping.

Point dumping and point terrorists have had free reign, while a small few have been the target of complex investigations, and warned with language that even suggests a gray area that is honestly...embarrassing.

Youve shown you wish to address the problem of point dumping and game throwing.

Now its time to actually address it.

Well in the past they have decided guilt just from being extremely low on the scoreboard but if I recall correctly it was just those below 100 points.

For the rest of them CC will probably want you to research specific games. You could have/should have linked all players also. Have fun.

Wouldn't the fact that they pretty much all have ridiculously low win percentages suggest that these are simply the real bottom-feeders of CC society? If a chap had a 40% win percentage (as in had obviously played decently at one point) then I'd be all in favour...apart from the fact that I basically think point dumping is the equivalent of throwing cash out of the window...but all of these chaps have got low win percentages in totality, which means they are basically thick. Having never played well doesn't suggest a choice to play badly, it means these people are just as dumb as posts. I'll say that again Fitz...they are stupid.

Is no one stupid in your world, fitz?

Now before you all shout at me for being typically elitist, insensitive and rude, let me just point our that Fitz is even more horrible than I. Fitz believes these people's play is so bad, that no one could possibly be that stupid, and therefore they should be given the cc-equivalent of the 'piano wire treatment'.

These are simple undermunchen to dear Fitz. Fitz for president? Fitz for fuhrer more like.

The bastard.

Well, in answer to your question....yes, I have seen many one could consider stupid. I suspect anyone who thinks the majority of these players is really doing anything except dumping, is stupid.

Personally, I believe my suggesting they are simply just kids throwing games to have some fun in a game however, to be much less offensive, that actually suggesting they lack the intelligence to actually win games.....

I do believe people are not necessarily required to play to win, or even play well. However, I think most of these go far beyond shutting their eyes and not winning, but go so far as to actually throw nearly every single game, since certainly to get to under 100 points, even shutting ones eyes and randomly playing, would statistically net a higher win rate, than 0%.

Yes they have. I presented them on at least two other occasions as well....honestly assuming actions would be taken to prevent it in the future. They have not.

Certainly as the scores go higher, the likely hood is less certain, but in general, anywhere under 400 points requires a win percentage so low as to suggest the actual objective of losing games purposefully.

I doubt that in the 400 point range every single player is guilty, but anywhere under, that the score alone is ample evidence to suggest they are.

Unfortunately, there may very well be some who are too young to understand the game, or tragically even challenged in some way, and for those I apologize, but still consider the risk extremely low, especially compared to the overwhelming number that absolutely are dumping.

Not your best response their old chap. I am raising a perfectly legitimate point: that it is far more likely these people are walking 'accidental deaths waiting to happen' rather than nefariously attempting to subvert the cc-system.

You suggest yourself that...

..but then basically say shoot them anyway. Collateral damage etc etc.

This is just too terrible. These cooks are people, Fitz. You can't just shoot people because they are stupid.

I absolutely do not suggest shooting or banning anyone without proper research.

However, a warning that they seem to be losing so much as to be suspected of cheating, could very much be helpful for both cheaters, and perhaps even the young or otherwise challenged.

In fact, I offer my help to any at that score level, to win a few points, and break the 500 point barrier. In almost every case, I would only need to help them win one game.

For those at the lower levels of 200, I admonish you for suggesting they are actually that stupid. They are people, and deserve to be treated with more respect. Its obvious they are just trying to have a little fun, but in doing so, are breaking the rules in the process. They also ruin the entire spirit of the scoring system as well, which is why action should be immediate.

Dear Cook,

We here at CC believe your play is so bad, that no thinking-human could possibly play this way without deliberately choosing to lose. Assuming we haven't just insulted you so badly that you are now going to proceed to throw yourself under a train (in which case our problem is kind of solved anyway come to think of it ;) ) and end it all like a coward, please endevour to stop cheating forthwith.

Your affectionately,

Team CC.

I believe:

Dear Player,

CC is actively seeking to eliminate game throwing and point dumping on the site. We believe that its possible because of your score, that you may be involved in such activity. This is your warning to stop or face punishment including possible banning.

If you are simply having trouble with the game, or there is some other explanation, by all means let us know, and we have many players that would be willing to work with you.

Thank you

Team CC.

PS...to you three with scores under 5.... Youre obviously cheating. Youre banned. Dont come back.(again)

would work just fine. I think the train stuff is perhaps a little melo-dramatic and unprofessional, personally.

I will mention honorable Mr. C. Many of the players on that list have a win percentage rate of 0% to 1%. Its awesome that you are worried some poor kid will be offended, but the simple math of the situation is that you actually have to use some intelligence to lose 100 games in a row. Statistically, its actually a difficult thing to do.

But wouldn't you feel terrible if you found out some special-needs centre had been trying to stimulate the thinking of their charges through CC, only for their favourite gaming website to turn around and basically say to their students...

"Ha, ha, ha...such a thickie. Snigger."

You might ruin 30 lives at a stroke.

Now this is the kind of thing I get up to before I've even had my morning coffee, but I thought you were one of the good guys?

I actually have before and it was very embarrassing. There are no doubt some players with special needs, and I absolutely suggest all safeguards be in place to deal with those situations. I also trust team CC to know the difference, and therefore did not see the need to point out something, I know they understand completely before engaging in such activity.

What I am suggesting, is that these people warrant investigation, and that many will be guilty of point dumping after it.

This is just thread based on suspicion with ample evidence to back up that suspicion, which is how this particular forum.

Im glad you are enjoying arguing with witty banter, simply for the fun of it, and am happy to oblige, but its irrelevant to the thread for the most part. Im sorry if you underestimated my full comprehension of the implications of this accusation and the complexities with it, but that is really not my problem. Ive been active in the discussion of it for years, and for you its obviously just some coffee table banter.

I likewise thought you were interested in doing what was right, and didnt allow yourself to be biased for personal reasons...guess I was wrong too. :D

Not necessarily, if a person is of a particularly low IQ, then they may struggle to get the grips with the game and how it is played. It is not their fault if so and I'm sure they will appreciate their lack of skill at the game and also lack of natural intelligence being rubbed in their face by this proposal. To send out a series of warnings to all those who fall below this 400 point threshold seems draconian to me in its application as it cannot be said for certain who is deliberately point dumping and who isn't without clear evidence.

all should be warned.

Well, clear evidence has not been required for warnings in point dumping cases before....only suspicion...but I absolutely trust team CC would actually investigate, before sending out said warnings.

Certainly the point threshold is arguable, and it was picked randomly. I do suspect the number of people trying in that range is ridiculously low however.

Perhaps I should have specifically stated that I understood the higher the score, the more carefully they would have to be investigated, but honestly, its so obvious, that I simply didnt waste any time with it, knowing full well it would happen anyways.

Sorry, but most of these kids aren't having problems understanding how to glue things together....they are gluing the teachers drawers closed. That doesn't happen by accident. I do agree there may very well be something wrong with many of these players, but suspect its more in the socio-pathic range of problems, than actual developmental ones.

Why are you so determined that incredibly stupid people wouldn't want to play CC? Incredibly stupid people want to do all kinds of things they really, really shouldn't. That's why so many of them die in amazingly unlikely ways.

You know a few years ago I was hoofing it to work one day and saw a chap (who was gawking at me most determinedly) ride his bicycle into a bus. He could be...

The simple fact here is that you can't prove these people aren't just simply thickies. For every sequence of moves/sequence of games you would say "No one could deliberately play this badly", I could point you to some idiot who killed himself in some horribly amusing way.

Sorry Fitz, some people just really are that dumb.

Yes, some people are really dumb. Others will stop at nothing to simply cause trouble because they have nothing better to do.

In this case, I simply believe it is the latter....on both counts.

I was never below 500, but for quite a while I was below 700 when I was new to CC and learning different types of game settings, etc. And I'm really not a genetic defective. Really.

Point being, that if in addition to bad strategy I also got really bad dice during that time period, I could have easily dropped below 500.

The point being, you didnt stay there. Take Wind Talker for instance......had a high score of around 1200 at one point, so she knows how to play the game.

It seems to me that simply enjoying the site but not really caring about your games, without intentionally trying to lose, can bring you into the low 100's.

If you don't really care about the maps and settings you play, you might just click "join a game" and pick a game from the list you see. You would end up in:

freestyle assassin on das schloss
Quads on Oasis against an experienced team
Quads on Woodboro against an experienced team
Triples on Jamaica against an experienced team

Any player with a strong grasp on the strategy of those maps and settings but without an experienced team to back him up will have a difficult time winning there. If you aren't good at strategy and have only 90% attendance, you'll probably get less then 1% win rate even if you're actually trying.

Should such a player be warned to pick his games more carefully? Probably yes. But I don't agree that such a player is point dumping intentionally.

Being unable to grasp the concept of the game or how to win consistently will lower your points to below 700. Getting below 400 is very hard to do, depending on who you play and on what settings.
I think there is a difference between a super elite player dropping to below 2000 points and a new kid on the block dropping to 500. Although to be fair, it takes more games to go from 1000 to 500 then from 6000 to 2000. This is so because there are more people below you then above you when you get to the 700 mark, so you will loose less and less points per game.
Those below 200 should be warned for pointdumping.
But lets be honest, there are people who just really don't get the game, at all... They will continue to loose and loose and loose.

The trouble is that Fitz is the kind chap who eats tofu, wears sandals in appropriate places and feels 'The Guardian' is a bloody good read.

For Fitz, everyone is equally special...no one is as dumb. We are all just 'different'.

No!

Just as 'liberal leftism' will one day turn us all into vegetable eating lesbians, Fritz's brand of pernicious, softly softly nazism ''we don't kill the weak anymore...just those radical cheaters!!'' is a poisonous blend of polital correctness, quasi-socialism and mein kampf.

May this thread be the beginning of it. The appeasement must stop here. There is still time to destroy this Fritzian push, this cookian cleansing of quite diabolical proportions.

Remember that the greedy fascist is never really sated. Oh they will say 'up to 400 and not a foot further...I promise'' but then there will be another 'reasonable demand'. Before long we will be having the coroporals digging the holes and the hardy sergeant first classes doing the shootings, as the cadets and the privates get led to a horrible death...in the name of Fritz.

'Scoreboard Lebensraum'...truly this is the darkside of CC we see here before us this day.

Re: many: point dumping

I find it hard to believe that people who win just a few games out of 100 would still stay at CC. I mean why would they want to be thrashed almost every time they play? Where is the fun to (supposedly) mindlessly clicking in something you do not have any clue? If they stay and play hundreds of games just because they are super stubborn and ambitious to succeed in the game they are absolutely completely ridiculously outplayed, I think they surely will start looking for guides or "how to win strategies"? And it shouldn't take hundreds of games for them to start looking for guides.

However, on the other hand I think that point-dumping should strongly correlate with multis? If yes, then multi-hunters should easily find out if those supposedly point-dumpers are really multis or not?

See, I don't know what it is - I've played... and seen friends play and lose to some of these guys... They'll gain 200-400 points in the game... but then be right back under 100 within the week. I really have trouble believing that they're just THAT bad. At least from what I've seen - their play is semi-decent. It's really irritating for everyone in the game too since obviously nobody wishes to lose 100 points to one guy - that's usually an entire rank for lower ranks... and a win isn't worth anything against them... they take up space and waste time.

Also, part of the reason some of them are so low is that they're in so many games.
Albiestar, for example, is in 239 waiting/active games right now - at the very least, once you drop below 400, there should be some kind of limit on how many games you can concurrently be in.
