These labels mean very different things in different countries. Liberal pretty much means conservative in some contexts - like Quebec, where the spectrum is more a question of increased government control vs. reduced government control, with the latter being "Liberal". I think you're more interested in American politics, so maybe you want to specify that.

There's alot more than liberal/conservative or democrat/republican in American politics too.

Good Americans don't vote.

I dont know how you can lable yourselves as one thing, sure you may agree with some liberal issues that dont mean that you should vote liberal for every election till you die. Because you would be dummer than a bag of crap if you already made up your mind based on whatever party you did agree with on a few issues twenty years ago. So I ask you to do one thing when there is a election THINK!!!! Dont become blindsided by a party label.

Aren't we all a bit of everything, really? It's insane to vote for a party, just because that's tradition or I'm a die-hard Demo or Rep and will vote that way 'til death. It's moronic and ignorant. You should vote for the best person.

And this propaganda that you're "throwing away your vote" if you vote for a third party is just bogus. If EVERYONE "threw their vote" away maybe there'd be some REAL change in America.

And why is it that the Reps and Dems are terrified of having a third party in the debates? What are they scared of?

And these rants on liberals can EASILY be turned around on the CONSERVATIVES. Remember McCarthy? Facism is just as frightening as socialism.

Also...there's another word for the left that is much more equal to the word "conservative", since "liberal" is now a dirty word, it's "progressive". "Progressive" is a much better way to explain a democrat that isn't a hard-core lefty.

some really wise thoughts here Titus, although I wouldn't go as far as to say that liberalisme equals socialism, nor that conservatism equals facism (only in their most extreme forms)... the word progressive is more relevant regarding liberalism and certainly in Europe there are many liberal parties that could easily go under that "label" - but there are also liberal parties in Europe that are more right-wing that left-wing (we don't have the two party system, so I believe the political landscape in Europe might be more fragmented than in the US - might be)

as for what the Reps and the Dem is scared of? losing power.
Thats why they have this "alliance" against third (or fourth, fifth etc. parties). As of now the two of them pretty much sets the political agenda in the US.

For the record, far right ultra conservative is fascism. Far left ultra liberal is communism. Neither one works but (real)communism kicks fascism's sorry ass. At least communism looks good on paper.

That site is flawed..... evidenced by this (and several other oddly worded questions): Since parents can't be trusted to monitor what their children watch, TV content needs to be more regulated.

Since parents can't be trusted ??? What kind of cow dung is that?

I got SOCIAL MODERATE 50%

ECONOMIC LIBERAL 33%

OVERALL RANKING CENTRIST

There are many of these quizes out there and they give different results ..as questions are bias to the left or the right.

Of course they won't be perfectly accurate, but the mere point in taking them is the fun factor. Honestly very few out there are using this as a guide in their political life I assume.
