proxy is not impossible, just that many are blocked.
same ip is possible, but it was not his schools IP but his home IP

Yeah, it's the same as the shared computer line of reasoning which we've been told wasn't the case.

To the Hunter or Mods or whomever is in charge,

If he is going to be ruled guilty (which it seems as if he is) will his sentence start from the time of the final ruling or can it be considered to have already started? To me, the guy is already being punished, as are his clanmates and players that he regularly teams with.

I think you mods are the ones who know all, or many of the potential flaws in your system, and I'm sure you know how your methods can be beat. I am sure you have considered all those possibilities so I'm not sure why you are continuing to wait for one of us to come up with a new idea.

I would like to see Commander back in action so maybe you can just get what seems to be the inevitable over with so he can start serving whatever time you are going to give him. As Incandenza stated, 6months is way to harsh for a guy like Commander. Not every case is the same so the standard punishment can and should be modified. That's the way it works in RL so there is no reason it can't here.

it doesn't work that way on CC and hasn't worked that way on CC for quite some time. there are set punishments for doing certain things, and i don't think you are taking into account the at least 6 months he accumulated by accessing others accounts to post about his innocence, despite multiple warnings that he would receive a ban for those very actions. i don't know commander, but i know all of you that do are very confident that it could not be him, etc... it is very admirable that so many are sticking up for him, but you have to realize his actions AFTER the intitial moves by CC are going to be taken into account too... yes, 6 months seems harsh, but it is the set standard for the infraction, and there is a reason for it... good luck...-the black jesus

p.s.-isn't this the 2nd or 3rd member of the same clan to have problems with their account... it is all so odd...

Just a thought here... Say someone had remote access to his PC (friend or someone else) Commander saves his password to his PC for an auto login.. This said person then logs in as him from his PC... seems like it could happen?

That's how I think it must have been done too Bruce.

For starters let's do away with talk of proxies as all that entails is masking one's own IP address by going via the proxy server.

On the assumption Commander didn't do this then either:
i) he has installed some malicious software that allows a remote user to control the actions on his PC, or
ii) someone has gone to the extraordinary length of coding Commander's IP address in a packet that was sent as a request to the CC server from another computer. This is highly unlikely yet is not beyond the realms of possibility, or
iii) there may be a flaw in the CC system of logging IP addresses in the event two people are logged into CC at the same time on the same account (e.g. the culprit logged in to sit Comm's turns at 8am, Comm logged in at 8.10am whilst the perpetrator is still logged in. The perp notices this and proceeds to create the chaos which may possibly show it to be from Comm's PC as he logged in last).

Unfortunately in this case there is no denying it is Comm's IP address that was logged, so guilt has been proven in so far as it was his responsibility - even if it turns out to be malicious software on his PC, he simply has to be more careful.

I do feel the penalty is harsh when there's seemingly no good motive for him to have done this, and especially in light of all the good character references he's been given. They really should count for something in my opinion.

i wholly agree with this... but you also have to take into account the 6 months worth of violations he racked up while accessing other accounts to post in the forums when his account was unable to... i really wish he had not done that, because i think he would have a better chance at a lesser punishment... who knows...-the black commander

I just spoke with a Comcast security specialist because i was almost hacked from someone trying to get my username and password using the following email to me .
Dear comcast Member,

Your account has violated our site policies.

If you think we've made a mistake or want to appeal our decision, please submit the link : http://update-comcast-x.com/update.html
to update your account with our customer service representatives.

Sincerely,
President comcast, inc

when i opened the email, it asked me to log in and use my normal info....i called them right away and the specialist told me it was a hacker . I then asked him."Brian Caley" <Brian_Caley@cable.comcast.com> about commanders situation, and he told me that someone could be on commanders street, and if commander was using a wireless router, than it would be real easy to hack his computer, access all of his computers info and ip address etc etc.....I couldn't understand a damn thing he was saying after that as to what or how, its not my language , but he did say it is very easy for someone who knows how to do it....He also told me that I could change my IP address anytime i wanted to by contacting their department, or just get a new provider

Im only mentioning this cause i was wondering myself, and thats what im told....you computer guys can argue this out and you can also yell about whos using whos computer to access others accounts and all that stuff ................................the white cc player

This is the same line of argument both you and eddie are using, but you really are using up the maxim of hindsight gives 20/20 vision. We can all see right now that perhaps that wasn't the best way for commander to go about things, but the reality is that when you've gotten 'hacked', points have been dumped, account have been guested etc etc, then using someone elses account to get your story out could quite possibly be the least of your worries...
And given the difficulties that people have already had with the e-ticket system (tho I'm going on hearsay) - but if we even have the buddysystem debacle that was also a result of that? - then I can understand the act of Com using another persons account to post, if not excuse it.

well, it is certainly cause for "reasonable doubt" isn't it.

Like i said it is way above my realm of understanding, and i cant imagine anyone wasting their time TO do it, i just cant believe commander would ruin himself like that after we had so many pm,s back and forth on strat, moves, good players who talk ....etc etc...so i am researching how it can be done, or if it can be done .....
whatever the truth here is, it is, and only those guilty know it.....and the smart computer nerds too.....this is all french to me, im just providing doubt to save a great man

the verdict will be out soon, there just getting all the ducks in a row. the thread has remained opened to ensure every angle was covered and to keep the public informed.. 19 pages or so doesnt constitute evidence towards or against a claim, all it says is it had a lot of community involvement.

its obvious earlier rules on point dumping will not suffice in the future, part of the delay has been coming up with a unified front for CC future policy. this will all be resolved soon enough. the case and its evidence is over, no need to keep speculating on possibilities.

i know this is probably checked hourly by some, just please be patient.

Incandenza wrote:Call me crazy, but a 6-month ban for a point dump that was deeply irrational and strenuously denied seems insanely punitive. Seems odd that said punishment would be preposterously in excess of the penalty for being a multi, supposedly the #1 rule of CC.

Considering the fact that a multi gets bannen. period, and 6 months is less then permananet, then i cannot follow your argument.
If you mean paying €25 USD will solve the bannishment for a multi, but not for a alleged pointdumper. Tes, i can see that.
But the 6 months period is for safekeeping more then anything else. Normally if you could prove that you are back in control of your account, you would get restored sooner , i think... Obviously, this case is a problem, and i don't recall seeing a definitive penalty, yet.
I can counsel only patience and to find proof of what really happened.

Here's how I see it: there's always 1 account left unblocked in a multi situation. Sure, they're stripped of premium, but they can still play games even if they don't re-buy. And of course said multi retains the option to re-buy. But commander's already had his premium stripped, and he theoretically wouldn't be able to play for six months, period, with no option to re-buy. So, yeah, that seems far worse than the penalty for the site's #1 rule.

As far as him being able to come back to the site earlier than the penalty decrees, should he prove his house in order, forgive me, but I highly doubt that's at all probable. Maybe if commander got character references from the Supreme Court, the Pope, and five Victoria's Secret models, but probably not even then...

Damn, does it have to be five models?

The saddest thing about all this is that a decent guy is taking the fall for actions that probably were not of his own doing, whilst somewhere out there is the real culprit who is getting away with it along with certain players who deliberately took advantage of all the speed games Commander was entered into.

the people who joined the speed games will be punished, and i wish he had just listened and not posted with other peoples accounts...it would have made it a lot easier for them to give him a smaller punishment.

I agree with this 100%. Commander did nothing wrong when it came to the point dumping that started this fiasco. I don't care what an IP check or anything else finds... It absolutely makes NO sense whatsoever. What did he have to gain by it? Nothing....

As far as using other accounts in the forums to defend himself...well, he obviously felt desperate enough to try and stop this freight train and to get the truth out there. Maybe he shouldn't have done that, but who wouldn't have at least tried the same when faced with this injustice?

Pimphawks70 and Master Chief have received their first Minor Infraction for letting their account be repeatedly used for Posting for Vacationed Users.

Commander62890, for posting repeatedly and interacting with the community under different accounts, will also be charged for account sitting abuse as a major infraction.
His point dumping is quite a unique case since he claims that it was not him who point dumped but someone else. So, it would look like his account was messed up by someone who had or got his password. Based on our investigation researching games and using our tools, and including Commander62890's explanation provided via E-tickets, we cannot conclusively determine Commander62890 as the culprit for this Point Dumping. Based from those speed games made, and the short time he made all of them, for the sake of argument, if someone else did made all those games, that person would be someone who is already familiar with the website.

Because we can not conclusively determine the party that may have been involved in the Point Dumping on Commander62890's account, and there is at least partial evidence suggesting Commander62890 could have been the Point Dumping party, his account will receive disciplinary action.

Always be wary of giving your account information out--even to friends. Once you give out your password, do not be too sure that it will not be leaked out (deliberately/accidentally/carelessly) to any outsider, CC friend or enemy, etc. --your responsibility to your account is still paramount.

Therefore, Commander62890 has committed two Major Infractions: Account Sitting Abuse and Point Dumping. His 1st and 2nd Major Infractions result in a one month website vacation for Commander62890.

The two players who majorly took advantage of the point dumping situation has also received their dues. Hannibal 19 - 1 month website ban for his 2nd major infraction. Great-Ollie - warning for his 1st major infraction. Both for point collecting.

Overall I think this is a good ruling, not that i want to see a friend banned but the posting on others accounts made some sort of ban necessary.

One question, does the time he has spent banned while you made your decision count as time served or is it one month starting today. Not that it matters much just curious.

i too would like to know this although the ban couldn't start from the beginning as he was still engaging in account sitting abuse.

so does it start from when he last abused someone's account or from now. i have no issues either way, i'm also just curious how this works.

the temporary ban that his account was on during the investigation does not count as time served,. The temp ban is in place to allow for the C&A team to investigate the claim while still letting that individual remain and compete in his/her active games. The only downfall to a temp ban is not being able to join/create new games (obvious reasons) and not being able to communicate via game chat/forums.

Seeing as the user still has access to most of the site during a temp ban it is not counted as time served.
