New Medal = OCD or Map Master

Post by TheFissk »

Concise description:
  • awarded to a player who plays a crazy amount and variety of games on a single map
Specifics/Details:
  • their are currently 2496 ways to custimize the settings on a single map (multiply by 183 (the total # of maps) to get the total number of different games you can play (502,884) can't complain about the lack of variety now).
  • you will get an medal for completing Bronze - 10% (250) games with different settings on a single map, 50% for silver (1248) and 100% (2496) for Gold.
  • Does NOT include speed games
Possible Faults:
  • any time you add a new setting this changes the number and could result in losing the Medal
How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • that # is really big but i'm throwing it out their for the community to look at, and approve of or dispprove of as they wish. (insult away i have thick skin)
Suggested changes

The system doesn't allow for medals to be removed after they are issued, which means that percentage based medals are most likely out of the question.

And why does it NOT include speed games? because you are freemium? ;)

I don't understand why you would make it a percentage medal / why the number of combinations to win the medal are so high. Only 257 people according to the scoreboard have even won the required amount of games for gold, before you even consider they would need to be on the same map.

If you made your suggestion "20/100/400 unique wins with a different combination of settings on a single map" that would make more sense to me. Also, not having speed seems horribly arbitrary - there are other medals freemies can't get, and not many will ever win 2,500 games on a single map anyway.

Yeah, it shouldn't be a percentage, just pick some numbers. And speed should prolly count.
But otherwise I like this idea.
Highest score: 3063; Highest position: 67;
Winner of {World War II tournament, -team 2010 Skilled Diversity, [FuN||Chewy]-[XII] USA};
8-3-7

i think that if we implemented this change to my orginal idea it would clear up my main concerns with the medal, mainly the large number required and the fact that you had to excude speed games to keep it reasonable.

I think the spirit of the medal---being well versed in a multiplicity of settings and maps---is an interesting idea. This may not be the best iteration of it, but I think that general idea is worth pursuit.
