Re: real bad results in c and a
CoF, you read my mind. I almost posted that a day or 2 ago and i forgot about it. If there is a motive it is this
1. King_Herpes 6351
2. Sjnap 6102
3. Karelpietertje 5969
4. Blitzaholic 5740
Thanks Denise. I put some thought into it, but i was kind of torn as to whether to post or not. I have a bad habit of trying to relate to people and put myself in their shoes, and maybe he deserves it a little bit, but it feels like I'm piling on. Obviously my urge to post won out.
I'm thankful for Andy revisiting this. It's nice this thread was not locked. I think taking a good, long, Transparent look at this is doing the right thing.

No offence taken, did you read and understand my post? This thread is systematic of the current tall poppy attitude prevalent in cc at present.Funkyterrance wrote:Bogan, no offense but did you read the WHOLE thread?

It has nothing to do with height and everything to do with cheating. Why not simply let the enquiry run its course.BoganGod wrote:No offence taken, did you read and understand my post? Thx Eddie, good advice which I think I will take
Re: real bad results in c and a
First and last post on this, and not as a Team CC member. I'm frankly not surprised by a) this happening and b) the reaction. The whole thing makes me kind of sad. Blitz is a good enough player that he doesn't need this; having said that, the way he got back to conqueror was exactly through the use of low ranking players - it's almost as if the points system were begging to be exploited in this way, on certain maps.
Pelo War, Woodboro, you name the map; it's laughably easy to rise in points if you're willing to play only quads on only those maps and foe anyone who dares beat you repeatedly on them. So in this regard, I don't think you can blame anyone if that's the way they choose to enjoy the site.
I've had situations where clanmates vanished from CC for an extended period - the only "right" thing to do in those cases is sit the games and inform tournament organizers of the situation so they can find a replacement. Clearly, just blindly joining new games is abuse of the trust given by sharing the password, even if there is no deliberate intent to miss turns or lose points.
There are several examples of going above and beyond the call, in order to sit a teammate or clanmate, that I personally know about.
CC should institute an official sitting feature to facilitate both the function and the automatic notification (in-game) that a sitter is taking the turn. Will it still be open to abuse? Perhaps, but it would surely make it simpler to identify that abuse than the current system, which is basically relying on people's good nature not to exploit having someone else's password.

Re: real bad results in c and a
I think this thread has 3 main goals to achieve.
1. Change the rules to avoid something similar happening again
2. To make the admin on this site aware just how poorly they have performed in;
a) brushing the original C&A under the carpet and then
b) not bothering say jack shit when lots of people point out how wrong they were and trying to improve their attitude towards paying customers.
The cheating aspect is going to be handled in the newly created thread over in C&A, but personally I'm just amazed at the poor admin on this site.

Well put

Game sitters should do just that, manage existing games for a player as asked. Not take advantage of their absence and trust by starting or joining more games with that account.danryan wrote:Clearly, just blindly joining new games is abuse of the trust given by sharing the password

Re: real bad results in c and a
I am sitting for someone right now and the idea of joining games for him never even crossed my mind. Why would it? (hint, hint)
Re: real bad results in c and a
Its funny you say that as everytime I account sit, I want to get it overwith asap. Its a pain in the ass to me, in most cases, to cover for someone regardless of how many games they are in. I wont play like a nub, but I also dont need the additional headache of adding more games to cover under 2 accounts.Funkyterrance wrote:I am sitting for someone right now and the idea of joining games for him never even crossed my mind. Re: real bad results in c and a
But at least you play the turns. Maybe you don't spend as much time strategizing them but you at least take the turns like you would expect a reasonable person to. Sure, the person you're sitting for may play games that you don't normally play (1v1, freestyle, nuclear) but you at least try to do your best in them.jackal31 wrote:Its funny you say that as everytime I account sit, I want to get it overwith asap. I've asked people to sit for me several times. These are my friends or clanmates and they all do a fine job of it. Sometimes, I'll lose a 1v1 game here or there because maybe my sitter doesn't have great experience playing the map or the settings. It's to be expected, but I wouldn't be able to accept losing games through deadbeating. What's the point of having a sitter then?

CChariot of Fire made a great point
its pretty obvious
He wants to pass King Herpes' all time point total
Then he can say "see look its indisputable! I am the greatest. i did everything better than everybody. please, please tell me im the greatest"
the guy is just desperate for even more adulation.

I am stunned and saddened at the posts by King Achilles. Admin could really have made a better fist of things rather than showing yet further ineptitude just when they seemed to be seeing the light as far as customer service is concerned.
Back regarding sitsaholic. It has come to my attention that he is now trying to say I have created PMs and quotes, before giving him authorship of them. Obviously I haven't unless, in a moment of intense stupidity he thought my version of his note to Robin was actually an attempt by me to make people think it was him. I received multiple emails and PMs telling me this as the writers were so disgusted that once again sitsaholic was proving his nasty underhand ways. He posted his thoughts on this matter in another forum I have no access to. However, it can be said with absolute confidence (by the sheer volume of people who told me, and I am not talking 2 or 3 here but 10 or more) that this is factual information.
So very sad when a person proves to be what one actually hoped they wouldn't be.
LOL, no end to the depths of Sisaholic.
anyone with a brain could see your post was a joke.
Who could be dumb enough to think you were actually trying to convince people that was a real email from him.

Re: real bad results in c and a
Funny though since an all-time point total high is really a freak event anyway. Any number of things beyond skill can temporarily raise someone's point total. It's the average over a period of time that really matters. You can shuffle your games to make your total go up artificially if you have enough of them going. The key word here is: artificial. Once all your games finish up you are back to average. I wonder what is the score of the guy you mentioned now?

I, as a member of THOTA, will not trying to sway your opinions or even state my own opinion.
I'm just asking you guys to tone down the unnecessary bashing.
I'm not trying to be a mod here. I would appreciate it if you would take it down a notch, Gannable (and others).

Yes, it was a little insulting... but it wasn't nearly as insulting as the things you were saying about Blitz.
All right... I've said what I wanted to say here. Carry on.
