With those options, I would still vote no lakes.

i think the southern lake looks good

is that all of lake tahoe or are you just showing the Californian portion of it ? it looks odd to me because it looks like it has been chopped in half

does the xml allow you to hit all terits in southern california with decay (bushfires) every 12 rounds (months) ?

Or an earthquake on Burbank (where Northridge/San Andreas fault is)

Well, presented with those choices I'd go with no lake as well. I think it looks more like a big rock now.

My vote (from another Californian):
1) Keep the "gray" lakes, even if they look like rocks. Blue just doesn't fit with the rest of the colors. And if you really want to irritate people, you could add Mono Lake, too...
2) Don't complicate things with decay territories, earthquakes, brushfires, and shaking monitors -- fun ideas, though!

Also, be sure to fix "Zzyzx" on the map (you had it spelled as "Zzyxz" on that recent version).

Seconded.

There seems to be a few differing opinions on the lakes. Perhaps a poll is in order?

Or maybe, for once, we leave it up to the mapmaker?

What an odd thing to say. It's always up to the mapmaker.

... and I like, asked people what their opinions were.

I've been following the discussion and I've already made up my mind, I'm just going to post it with the update tomorrow. Obviously not everyone will be happy with the decision but that would be the case with any choice I would make.

New post tomorrow.

Sorry Lake fans, but I'm going to skip on them. I just don't think they add anything. Also I don't like how Lake Tahoe sat on the edge of the map. It just looked weird to me.

Natty win. But yeah...sadness about the lakes, but still lovely. Zzyzx looks great on the map, love it.

So what's the status on this? Are you making more changes or testing other things, Bison? I forget if you mentioned something.

I'm pretty happy with it. I'm hoping that the higher up's are too.

I did this to see how it would look but I think it makes things look too much like an Easter egg:

So unless more changes are requested I don't have anything in mind.

Nice. But why is the bay brown on the main map? Why not have the inset solid bordered for SF?
